I bought some flea stuff (advantage) because of this thread the other year, and it was good service and good price (I used petshed) and I needed more.. actually, this time I need revolution, new kitty has ear mite issues.. so I went and dug it up.

flea season is soon going to be upon us, in the south east so I figured I'd put it back out there in case anyone else wants to be prepared..

About $3 bucks cheaper here for the size I use:

Vet Products Direct

Also an Australian site. I've used them several times, good service, but takes awhile for shipping (aprox a week and a half). Shippping costs for me (NC) were $7 for several items. Shipping for the OPs site is $5 for 1st item and $1 for each additional item.

Note: if you do use Vet Products Direct be sure to check shipping if you add toys or anything like that. Could boost it up considerably. For just meds, still cheaper than anywhere else I've seen, including shipping.

Well I get mine usually from a seller on Ebay. I won one of her auctions, she's a really fast shipper. Since I won one of her auctions she gives me a the rate I got it with shipping included. It came to around 5 dollar per Frontline Plus. I have two dogs I get it in packs of 6 from her. So total of 60 for both dogs and it was priority mail if I remember right. Her ebay account name is lure-it. You should check her out.

this place requires a prescription for the product I needed.. it was worth 5 bucks to me not to deal with that, but I'll keep 'em in mind for another time.

warthog & ano: do the products you're tryig to get require a script in the US? I know that VetPD sells Interceptor in Australia without need of a script, but since you need one in the US they won't sell it to US buyers. Wonder if it's the same for the meds you wanted....I've only purchased advantage top spot plus, some ear drops, and the 'aussie' brand of tape worm tablets (same active ingredient as used in the US at a fraction of the price my vet charges).

Generally you can go to most vets offices and they'll just sell it to ya without a prescrip, usually can't buy it over the counter at most stores. Definitely worth it though, none of the crap you buy at Walmart or anywhere else can touch the Advantage products.

revolution (what I was buying) does require a prescription in US and some of the places I looked also required but petshed did not mention it and has shipped my product..

wasn't a question of getting it prescribed, the vet told me to just come by and pick it up if the earmites came back (new cat.. he's been a bundle of medical joy.. last time I had him to the vet he got treated for ear mites (3rd time), upper respiratory infection, tape worms, and... conjunctivitis.. pretty much every piece of him that wasn't covered by fur was infected/inflicted/infested) but cheaper to buy elsewhere... and I hate to ask them for a prescription to buy elsewhere because they are very good to us when we do suck it up and haul the cats over there (is far.. and they travel so.. messily.. and are so.. cranky, once they get there..). so.. sneaky suited me better in this instance.

frontline works great. I think it is supposed to last several months. A couple of drops on the back of my cat's neck rid them of fleas. Those flea collars did nothing. Put a few drops on the cats last year and have not had to reapply, but then they are basically indoor cats.

I had my house treated for termites in the fall. The termite guy used "Termidor" - active ingredient - fipronilfipronil, the same active ingredient in frontline.

the stuff is supposed to be effective for up to 10 years for termites. It is also used to control carpenter ants, roaches, a variety of insects.

I am so thankful I now live in Utah where we have no fleas. I use to live in Louisiana. Place sucked a$$ for fleas.

Three months for fleas, one month for ticks. Frontline is the only one that kills ticks. I suggest Frontline TopSpot Plus instead of Frontline TopSpot. It contains an additional ingredient that breaks the flea lifecycle by keeping eggs from hatching.

Anno: my vet won't give me a script to buy through the internet, but will pricematch internet price if I print out the page and show it to them. Don't know if they'd match an Aussie site, though. I'll have to check out PetShed & see if they require script for Interceptor and how price compares with the cheapest US internet place I can find.

Just curious, isn't Revolution primarily a heartworm product (all of which need a script in the US) that also treats parasites like fleas & mites? I don't know about cats, but it's pretty important to keep dogs on a regular heartworm regimen. I prefer to seperate my heartworm/internal parasite med from one for external parasites like fleas, ticks, & mites because Top Spot Plus seems to be the only med that's really effective for ticks.

Even if PetShed will ship products that require a script in the US now, I wouldn't be surprised if that changes sometime in the future. The feeling I get is that the manufacturors get pressured from US vets to discourage/prohibit legitimate non-US suppliers from shipping meds requiring a script in the US without one. Might also be technically illegal (under some trade laws, I'm sure little to no risk to the buyer).

I heard of a flea circus but never flea medicine......Are there flea doctors working at flea hospitals too? Or are you talking about medicine for the guitarist of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers?

I don't honestly know.. I know it does have a heartworm componant but I didn't pay much attention to that.. frankly, this (when the vet recommended revolution for the earmites) was the frist I heard that cats even got heartworm and I've had at least one cat since.. 1980. my cats are indoor only so it's not something I really need to worry about.. and I never had to worry about ear mites until I got this new cat! normally I use advantage for fleas, but the advantage I have on hand is for 8lbs plus and the new guy is not 8 lbs yet.. plus.. there's those mites. I figure time I run out of the revolution he'll be 8 lbs and the ear mites will be history and we'll go back to the advantage.
