My mom is looking for a good printer so that she can print pictures from her digital camera. I dont really know anything about it. But she said she can spend up to around $300, she just wants picture quality prints. Any recommendations...websites or anything so I can get started
Thanks
Tommy

Another vote for the Hp 990Cxi, the printer is absolutely awesome.
I believe there is a cool model that also has a 3 inch LCD display (For previewing pictures)
and can accept Smartmedia, Compactflash and Sony Media cards

Epson photo printer line for me--for printing graphics--epson is the best bar none.
But they dont print text really well though... :|
The color print from epson is more vibrant and sharp compared to HP/canon printers.

I don't know about all of the Epson printers but the ones I have used have a tendancy to become clogged if not used on a routine basis. This is normal for inkjets, but what's bad about the Epson is that when it happens severely enough the printer has to go in for service. With the HP you can just replace the cartridge.

I am also looking for a good colour printer at the moment... Very unsure as to weather to get a Canon (Very happy with my scanner and digi. camera) or the HP. As I understand the Canon now have separate ink cartridges for each colour... meaning that if you run out of one colour you don't have to buy a whole new multi colour cartridge. Which to me spells a saving! On the other hand... every time this sort of thread comes up, everyone says the HP's are the way to go. I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and just get one or the other and take the punt!

(excuse the spelling... we Australians spell some words very different to you guys)

I heard other photo printer ink will smudge even if you print it on the photo paper. Epsons ink would not smudge if it printed on photo papers.
About the clogging problems--I never have any problems regarding the same thing on my epson photo printer.
I have both HP and Epson printer- HP printer is better printing text--Epson-better in printing graphics.
If you are unsure--go to retail stores and try the printers on stores displays.

Hp makes the best most reliable printers period. One thing about HP when you replace the print cartridge you get a new print head because it is built into the cartidge. Cannon printers overall have a very poor reliability factor, don't beat up on me Cannon owners yours may be fine but lots of people have had problems with them. Epson is pretty good but I like the paper handling better on the HP printers and the HP has very good text and photo output. I have had injet printers in one form or another for over 10 years and the couple of times I strayed from HP I was sorry.

Not true, at least with the HP. I printed around 2000 photos last fall and I'm doing around 1000 for a wedding right now. If I continue to do this much more I'm going to have to invest in a color laser though. Cost per photo will be much cheaper.

I've also got an Epson Stylus 1520, I think the HP photo quality is much better. Maybe the reason you think the HP isn't better is because you're using PhotoREt instead of 2400x1200dpi mode. PhotoRet produces good images if you are lacking in the memory department but the only way to get good results is to use 2400x1200dpi mode.
