Alright, so I asked the other day about Polarized vs. Unpolarized lenses mentioning that I was looking at a pair of Oakleys and I got tons of responses saying that Oakleys weren't very nice/durable, although I can get a discount with them. So, I figued I'd check a few different options.

My budget is ~$150, I'd like polarized lenses. I like the feel of Maui Jim although I've yet to find one that looks right on me (haven't tried a ton of 'em, granted).

Ideas??

My favorite are Revo and Maui Jim. If I recall, my last pair of Revo's (polarized, glass lenses) were $145.

I buy Smith, and I also have Polarized lenses in my current Smiths. They take a beating and have never broken.

Ummmmmm...no

But they have the new stylish "New Wayfarers" .

Actually, Ray Ban do make good sunglasses for what it's worth, I can understand not liking the Wayfarer frames though.

I've been happy with both Revo and Maui Jim, but they're both expensive if you ever sit on 'em, like I'm apparently prone to doing.

I love my Oakley Half Jackets. They've been squashed a few times and pop right back together.

IMO, Maui Jim and Revo make the best sunglass lenses in the biz. Serengeti is supposed to be good, but I really don't want photochromic sunglasses...I want dark all the time.

Bolle used to be pretty good for relatively inexpensive sunglasses. Not sure if that's still true today or not.

Like I said in the OP's "polarizing" thread, when I was at the Costco optical department last month, their Maui Jim collection was surprisingly cheap...under $100/pair.

It really depends. For what it's worth, I own two pairs of half jacket xljs from oakley, and I wear them daily. They take a beating and they still look good. I replaced the lenses on them once because they got scratched up, but now they look good as new.

Some of oakley's cheaper metal wire glasses typically have durability problems, but the plastic ones don't.

Missed that in the other thread, there's a Costco nearby but I don't have a membership or I'd love to take a look. The MJ's I tried on were some of the most comfortable frames I've ever worn, but they just looked odd...so says my wife.

There's so many opinions about what's good and what's not...I just want something that will last. Are your Oakleys polarized or no? Does Oakley coat the lense with the polarizing layer or is it sandwiched?

Do you know anyone with a Costco membership? If so...there's your way in...

Actually...I do. But she's on the other side of town

Ok...how about this?

MOST Costcos will allow you to walk in to "look around" if you ask first. Tell them you want to see if the products they offer would justify the $50 membership...then, once you're in, head for the optical department and look. You won't be able to buy without a membership, but if you see what you like, have your friend from across town come with her card. Pay her a couple of bucks for gas and you should be good to go.

You probably don't care about these but I bought my sunglasses from a local company that specializes in making eyewear for professional race car drivers. They're ridiculously comfy and polarized such that your instruments dont become black when you're wearing your glasses.

Serengeti.

$110 will buy you any design you could want with polarized, anti-glare, scratch resistant mineral glass lenses with Italian made or Japanese made titanium/steel frames.

I personally own about 10 pairs of all colors and designs...I will NEVER go back to anything else.

Nice glassed but the ones i want seem to be $175 everywhere i looked. Where can i find $110?

I'm not sure on the polarization process, but they're pretty durable... i highly doubt they're coated.
