Well......I'd call this a repost.......but, the news is so old already, I don't know if repost is the correct term! I believe the information has been disputed several times now too although I agree, the SiS 645 IS a better choice IMHO!

I don't think there's been "Intel Chipset Zealots" since the BX chipset.

"Oh gee... I want to run out and buy an i815 chipset based board so I can be limited to 512MB of RAM"

Yeah... right.

In reality, if you have PC2100 RAM and no desire to overclock, the i845 chipset is a better choice, but the fact is that with other chipsets utilizing PC2700 RAM (which is a bit expensive right now) and the ability to crank up the front side bus, the Intel chipsets fall short.

Its old, inaccurate, been disputed and proven wrong countless times. VIA P4X266 is the worst P4 Chipset available. SiS looks pretty good, but I'll still take an 845D over it.

Huh? What chipset you think most people are using to overclock their P4's via FSB with? Yes, the 845D. Good PC2100 such as Crucial will do PC2700+ just fine.

You're not doing 166 MHz asynchronously on the RAM with an Intel chipset. You're not doing 112 MHz on the CPU and 140 MHz on the RAM with an Intel chipset...

I would think you would've known what I meant.

Huh? People are doing this with i845 boards like the Asus P4B266. It has a number of dividers, 1:1, 4:3, etc.

P4 is a quad pump 100 mhz bus. memory is running at 133 mhz.
Run the bus at 112 and the memory should be running at some sort of ratio to that. 140 sound right.
