Good reliable NIC for use with Smoothwall 0.9.9?

Was gonna set up smoothwall for a friend of mine on an old comp he has, but he has only Netgear FA311's which, according to the FAQ dont work with Smoothwall. So, can anyone recommend which NICs are cheap and work great under Smoothwall? Oh and I cant just look at the compatability list in Smoothwall setup, being as I left the CD at his house. Thx

I bought the same DAMN card last weekend for my smoothwall...guess what...didn't work:|


I just used one of my dlink's that uses a REALtek chip and it was flawless.

Now I have a new NETGEAR in my WEBSERVER....

Go with something based on the Realtek chipset. The first one I ever bought 3 years ago is still up and runing flawlessly. I have used many of them and never had a problem because of the card.

What about the cheapo Linksys or D-Links they have everywhere? Im having a hell of a time locating any Realtek NICS, none at Best Buy, Comp USA or even my local Fryes. Id go Intel or 3COM but theyre $50 bucks a pop...
