Good things to bring to a housewarming party?

I never quite understood housewarming parties. What would the homeowners need that they didn't already have from their previous apartment / condo?

Maybe lawn care stuff?

Well, it depends if it's a pot luck or not. It would be odd if they set out a whole table of food already, and you bring a duck.

Some people bring gifts like plants and such, but I never do.

Really depends on those friends though, and your friends' usual expectations.

Depends on how close you are with them. I usually go for a cheap bottle of booze like Sailor Jerry's, or something like that.

Home Depot gift card, Kitchen appliances, pretty much any item around the house you can think of.

Though it depends, if they're moving from their parents' or if they're just moving from another place that they owned/rented. If they're not moving from their parents' than they'll have everything already so just stick with a gift card.

Weed scented furnace filters are also a great gift, it's a gift that keeps on giving. Wait, I said that as a joke, but I think that actually is an awesome idea. I need to patent that.

What's it there not to understand? Housewarming is an excuse to get-together and a 'hey look at our place!' celebratory occasion. They don't host it to 'get stuff from you'.

2. Alcohol always works- a nice bottle of scotch or vodka.

3. A nice set of coffee or tea.

4. Crap from Brookstone's. Ppl love all that junk.

A housewarming party is about bringing your friends and loved one's to your new place to 'warm it up' and make it into a home again. Gifts are purely optional.

For my housewarmings I make sure I have a wide selection of drinks that I don't even like, foods and snacks and all that stuff they will like that I may not.

If they get me a gift, that is great...if not I am not upset. Usually though people move up so while their apartment or starter home had everything they needed; they had wants that can now fit in the new home. Like a full sized blender or countertop mixer, or more towels and bedding, etc.
