From what I've read and seen in benchmarks the 9500pro may be your best bet in that range. Now that you can overclock them, it would probably give you really good performance.

I have both a Ti4600 and 9500 Pro. The 9500 Pro is very close to the 4600 at stock speeds and outperforms it when both are overclocked and the overclocking mod on the Radeon is very easy to do. I would recommend the Radeon 9500 Pro. It costs less and is a better performer.
They are all pretty much even, pick the one with the best software bundle. I chose the Gainward because it had features like dual-DVI and VIVO, and is clock slightly higher I think.
I just picked up a Gainward GF4 Ti 4800se from PCClub.com for $219.99. This card o/c'd to 300/650 with no problems at all. With my system, I'm getting a 13700+ 3DMark2001se score. I don't now much about the ATi 9500 Pro or even the 9700 Pro but if I went the ATi rout I'd spend the extra $$'s for the 9700 Pro myself. This Gainward has a buch of features as well like the VIVO for example.

I have the same card and the Golden Sample version. It is overclocked to 310/680(Stock speed is 300/650) at the moment with no problems. I've o/c it at 325/760 and it seemed stable enough but i chickened out and dropped it back to 310/680. Main reason was to preserve the card until Doom 3 comes out before I buy yet another card...
Get the 9500 Pro, other wise you are going to be paying for an outdated card. Ok well maybe that is a little over the top, but the ti4600 is a directX 8.1 card. The 9500Pro is based off the R300 core and has hardware support directX 9. It will be a much better card in the long run. just my .02
