Good tv tuner card/usb tv tuner

I'm looking to get a tv tuner/card or usb tv tuner for my computer. I was wondering what everyone recommends? I already have a geforce 6800 so it would be strictly a pci tuner card or a usb 2.0 tv tuner. Anyone have any recommendations? With the PCI card, I still use my 6800 with it right? I wouldn't see why not, just wanna make sure.

Get a Hauppuage card, such as a PVR-250, or else their USB model.

whatever you do, don't get an ATI model!

Or if you are on a budget, get this one. leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Expert. It's a lot cheaper, but uses more processor power, but it's pretty highly recommended. The hauppauge has it's own hardware, so it takes strain off of your CPU.

Why not?
ATI's AIW cards always seem good, what's so bad about their regular TV-Tuners?

I have akg7-raid, so it only has usb 1.1 and no 2.0 support to my knowledge, is the quality going to suck? Anyone have any experience with the wintv-pvr usb?

USB cards are so generic, it's hard to come up with one that isn't a good card.

where do u live ?

MSI and Avermedia both have usb2.0 solutions

i have an AverMedia DVB-T digital tuner card....i live in the uk so with this thing i can pick up some of the free to air digital channels
it records in mpg2 the picture quality is top notch, i can pause live tv .... the lot im very happy with it

I actually think I may go pvr-250 now. I was liking the usb because I could put it on my laptop if I wanted to but after thinking about it I wont use it on my laptop often, if at all. This way i can save the money and just get the pci version and not have to worry about anything else. And from what I hear the usb even though 2.0 still can be laggy and buggy. Anyone have experience with the 250 or usb 2.0? I would go 350 but I'm not trying to making a myth tv or anything just so i can watch tv on the 'puter.

The PVR 350 is awesome.........did the same thing as you..........asked for advice here on A/T about 2 months ago. Most said Happage pvr 250, some said winfast, a few avermedia.............but one guy went in depth and said the PVR 350 and gave a link......................a friend of mine has the pvr 250 and I have to say, the PVR 350 is better...............I record TV all the time now, and even watching TV with it is clear and crips much more so than the 250.........................my adive, as the person whom advised me would be to spend the extra $$$$ and go with the best..........................the PVR-350!

the 350 offers clearer video? i was under the impression the internals were essentially the same for playing video, the 350 just had outputs for the video, something the 250 lacks.

Eeek! $186 on Newegg! Isn't there something cheaper? How much worse are the cheaper versions?

I assumed so too, but for what i needed the 350 fit better so I bought it..........now, I don't know for sure/positively about the internal hardware, but, the 350 is noticeably better at replay and live TV............even my friend agreed when he saw and compared the two!

Results may vary.............just putting in my $.02! Good luck with whatever you decide!

I'm not doubting what you say at all, it may very well be true. I'm just wondering if maybe you have a better signal than he does which would explain the quality difference. I don't know if I want to shell out $180 for a tv tuner.

Souldn't be.....................both on Charter and our TV reception looks identical.........................the only difference is when viewed through the cards..........................both A64's both with 1GB Corsair, both with 9800 Pro cards...............

I too am looking for a good usb 2.0 or firewire tv tuner for my laptop. Its an athlon64, so my system shouldn't be much of a problem...

Anyone have some good review links to share ?
