Depends if you just want tuner or capture card. I just got the Asus TV880 Capture card. Was seriously considering Leadtek too (which im sure is good). But the Asus uses a 10-bit chip (I think Leadtek is only 8??) which gives superior overall video quality. I am impressed! THe Asus TV880 was only $5 more than the Leadtek. It has fewer features (No FM), but I can watch TV, record TV shows, capture from my Hi-8 camcorder (main reason I wanted it) all in EXCELLENT quality. I had it installed and was watching TV in 10 minutes and had xferred 8mm in 20 min. CHeck it out...
agree whole heartly
i had an AverMedia TV Studio (using the BT878 8-bit conexant/Brooktree chipet)
and the LeadTek using the same BT878 8-bit chipset.
good cards and the chipset has stood the hands of time well.
but anyting using then ew CX23880/1 10-bit Conexant chipset (like the Asus card)
is superior
i got myself the Prolink PixelView Play TV HD for AU$94 (~$50 US) cheaper then the LeadTek
this uses the CX23881 chipset,
i love it !!
comparisons i have done with bt878 based cards shows that a Cx23881 based card has a higher bitrate transfer for the same settings and capture source
awesome quality, its obviously capturing more detail.
the difference is, like most in the IT world, marginal, and if you have a BT878 based card dont be in a rush to drop it.
third party suport for VFW drivers based OS's is minmal for the cx23881
but using iuVCR or VirtualVCR (freeware and the best options settings available IMO) you cant go wrong!
i ohpe this helps
