Good video card for my new 2405fpw?

I'm not much of a gamer, but I need a good video card that will support the 1920x1200 resolution on my new Dell 2405FPW. I need:

1. DVI
2. 1920x1200 Reso.
3. Good Linux Support/Drivers (important)
4. Wouldn't mind playing games but i'm not a HUGE gamer... so I'd rather save some $$$ where possible.

What's the most affordable card that supports all of the above? Thanks!

I think that a 6800gt is still at a hefty price range, I'd go for a 6600gt that you can get for the low 100's. In terms of linux drivers, nvidia blows ati away, so still a 6600gt in that case.

6600 GT over a 6800 non-GT?

The eVGA 6600 GT lists the following specs:

2048 x 1536 x 32bit x 85 Hz Max Analog
1600 x 1200 Max Digital

Isn't the digital better? But only shows 1600x1200. Is the Analog the DVI connector?

Also, even though it specifies 350W power supply. Will it work on my Dell PowerEdge 400 SC's 250W power supply?

X800GT, much better buy than the 6600GT and will last you longer. If you want even greatest performance, check out the X800GTO2. Its around $200.

ati = bad for linux

It works fine, but nowhere near the performance of windows.

However, so long as he's not gaming in linux, ati will be fine.

There are some places that have x800GTO2's in stock, but you have to know where to look.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and they are less than $250.

It seems that the GTO2s were $200 a week ago, but now because of demand, have risen to $300

Looks like Atacom.com has them for $229 but shipping, for me, kills it...it's over $50! (I live in Alaska)
