Lookin for a decent classy watch in the $100-150 range or so. Lookin for a stainless steel band, and a very non-busy face. This would be the first watch I ever bought so I don't want to break the bank, but I also want something that will last a while

Fossil? Relic? Kenneth Cole? How about others?

you can find a pretty good selection at overstock.com. They have some seiko kinetics and various other ones for reasonable prices.

Seiko pretty good?

Yeah, I am completley clueless when it comes to watches...just thought that now would be a good time to buy one.

I just got a fossil watch for 65 bucks, Here it is. Which watch to get is personal opinion, but I like fossil watches. For your price range, you can get a titanium watches.

I used to have a Fossil Blue watch but it was too heavy for everyday wear...
Go somewhere local and try a few brands on to make sure you like whatever it is... Iknow Champs and American Outfitters both sell Fossil, see if you can try one on. Kaufmanns might too.

i like my old fossil steel watch.. got it for ~$60 on sale at macys.. those skagen watches look nice, but they look too fragile.. i'd probably break it quick.

side note, anyone know how the heck to pop open the fossil watch? i need to replace my battery, and im too lazy to take it to a watch place..

Wanna know something funny? We do not have Champs, American Outfitters, OR Kaufmanns here in Alaska. But I think Nordstroms sells Fossil.

Eco-Drives and Kinetics are cool. So are classic automatic watches. I don't like batteries in my watches.

I just won an auction for a swatch 007 watch. I already have the "From Russia w/Love" and now I am getting "the Spy who Loved me" one.

I like swatches and also have an armitron that my uncle gave me.

Fossil makes some good watches, they are fairly dependable and well worth their money. Nutdotnet, that is a sweet watch that you picked out, looks similiar to a Movado. I wear a nice Swiss Army Watch, but it was a gift, if I had to go buy a watch, it would be a nice Fossil.

Am I the only one with a Fossil store in their local mall???? There local store has a billion watches, everyone could find a watch for themselves in there.

If you like sporty watches, it is tough to beat the values on Seiko divers and chronographs at Chronograph.com. These are very high-quality watches and great deals. I personally wear an automatic SKX779K - somehow automatic watches are a lot more appealing to me than quartz ones.

You can't go wrong with Seiko, IMHO. I've talked to lots of people with 10+ year old Seikos who've never had a problem.

I have had good experience with my Elgin PQS which was $115 at Sears. Elgin is a very old and well-respected manufacturer and they have a great guarantee. They also have very classic designs, and are probably right in your price range. The PQS line features a self-charging photoelectric cell and doesn't require batteries or winding (much like the Eco and Kinetic watches).

I looked at some of the other brands in that price range, but I really liked the Elgins.

Cool, thanks for all the advice!

I think I will do a little hunting tommorow and see what I can come up with.

Try swiss army/swiss military/wenger...

I've got one and love it. Stainless steel, fairly plain face.
