Any of the Francis Coppola's are good and are <$30.
The $20 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our favorites.
They sell them at most grocery stores.

When in doubt - A Merlot is a mild red, and generally inoffensive to anyone. Chardonnays are mild~ish yet flavorful whites.

If you have a decent wine store in your area, just ask. I've invariably come home with a good bottle doing that. And you won't need anything near a hundred for a decent bottle - Not even half or a quarter.

This if you want to go cheap. $7/bottle around here. Everything they make is good to me and my wife. Its our most drank wine.

If you want to go to about $50/bottle the Stags Leap Artimus Cabrinet is amazing i think.

Of course you could always go the easy route and go for Champagne, I've never seen anyone be upset over receiving that.

Good call. Vouvray is very easy to drink, I find it a little sweet myself but its a great choice if your giving it to people who don't drink a lot of wine.

Pouilly Fuisse is very nice. Its like a good Chardonnay but actually drinkable. ^_^

Champagne is the WORST possible gift.
We already have 3 bottles in our refrigerator.
There is no possible reason to drink Champagne except for New Years Eve or Weddings.

It goes fantastically with fish and chips, you should try it.

I don't drink Champagne all the time or anything but its nice to just crack a bottle open in the evening for no good reason sometimes.

Just saving it for a special occasion where everyone gets one small glass and have to stand on ceremony to drink it really isn't the best way to enjoy it.
