When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Glad the mod's stepped in. You're a prick.

OP:
Really sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is always hard.

I avoided clicking on this thread for a while. I have a real soft spot for dogs and I'm very sorry to hear about it

1 question though, if it was your dog, why was it not your decision?

I'm guessing the OP still lives at home and Nibbles was the family dog. Parents decision?

She's looks very cute and happy in her pics.

Mods: Please ban! At least one week vacation!

Who calls for a ban when cat owners get MichaelD laughing over their pets dying? Not saying it's right, just annoyed at the hypocrisy.

Also, sorry to see your dog go. It seems like if arthritis was the only problem she had, putting her down was the wrong decision.

Sorry for your loss

I know the feeling myself when we had to put down my first dog, he was 19y/o and I think about he nearly everyday still. Don't wait as long as I did to get a new dog though, I wish I didn't wait 4 years.

Thanks guys.

To explain the situation:

I had lived at home up until a year ago when I left to go to college. About 6 months ago my father started doing all these home improvement projects, one of which included new carpet. Now, it was common knowledge my dog pissed on the carpet every once in a while. I dont know why he replaced the carpet with her still alive, him and my mom always said they would get new carpet when nibbles past, I call him a dumbass for doing it.

So new carpet, dog that pissed on the carpet. Wasnt long before he started scheduling appointments to put her down. We cancelled most of them, but after summer got over no one is really gonna be around to be with her or take care of her, so I kind of agreed it might be better to let her go. Theres not much I can do anyway, as I live an hour away and I cant go there and take care of her.

I am regretting it now. Im definitely starting to regret going in when they did it too. I cant get those last moments out of my mind.

As for people laughing or calling her ugly, I know I would have the common decency to STFU if you were in the same situation. I doubt you will look half as cute near the end of your life.

Well, your dad sucks. A couple of peepee pads around the house could have solved that problem.
