I have no clue why people expected a 4k upgrade. Switch can barely do 1080p @ 60fps.

Nintendo also doesn't really have a track record of upgrading consoles. Sure they did it with the DS line, but that was the exception, and it was also a handheld only.

The Switch is pretty much a handheld that can be docked.

Not sure what your point is. It's a hybrid and no one is arguing otherwise. It's just semantics as to what you want to call it.

It's a good upgrade if you use handheld mode enough to warrant it. However, given that I predominantly use docked mode and have an older, hackable Switch, I see no point in upgrading.

And it's just as much a standard home console that can be played in handheld mode.

I think people make the distinction because its performance capabilities are more in line with mobile devices. Of course, there's nothing to say that a mobile device can't have fantastic games on them, and arguably, even better when built for dedicated, always-expected physical controllers (like on the Switch). That's one big problem with Apple Arcade as it's just a bit of a hodgepodge mess. For example, I switched to the new Apple TV, and there are some games that I can no longer play because I don't have the previous Apple TV's remote. (An example of that is Cut the Rope Remastered.)

So I was 43min late to the opening of pre orders for the OLED switch and they were all gone. Fuck I hate resellers. The white one looks so clean.

Yeah, looks like a bunch of them being listed on eBay for upwards of $550. Hopefully the supplies aren't as tight as the other consoles and the scalpers don't get much business. I probably won't be getting one since I'm fine with my original model still and I mainly use it docked.

The demand is not going to be there at all. These will be easy to get.

IDK, I remember a couple of months ago hearing the only game system Gamestop could ever stock was Switch Lite, everything else would sell out as fast as they could get it in.

Not sure what you mean. You can go on their website right now and order any Switch you want including the Animal Crossing one. They never had issues with PS4 or X1 either.

If you're just talking Switches in 2020, that was a lot to do with covid. It wasn't Gamestop that had stock issues, everywhere did. Although I found an Animal Crossing one easily at Xmas time for my son too.

I hadn't really looked since around March or so, as that's when I sold my PS4. But looking at their stock then there wasn't a PS4, PS4 Pro, XBox One, XBox One S, XBox One X, nor Nintendo Switch at any Gamestop within 100 miles of me at the time, and I have a ton of Gamestops just in walking distance from me much less including the entire San Antonio and Austin area. Nothing on the website either. Went in and bought some PSN cards from a Gamestop near me and they told me the only thing they could ever stock more than a day was the Switch Lites. It's how I knew not to take any lowballs when I sold my PS4.

PS4 still seems like a mess to get from them. I only see two PS4 I can order from Gamestop right now: a refurb 1TB Slim bundle with FO76, Just Cause 4, and Borderlands 3 for $330 and a refurb Pro bundle with Cyberpunk for $440. Ouch, a little better than in March when there was absolutely nothing, but not much considering the reputation of Gamestop's refurbs. Not a single PS4 I could actually get in a store within 100 miles of me.

Switch situation is definitely better. Not only can order from the website, but yeah the Animal Cross one is all over my area, and the red and blue V2 isn't too hard to find too. Surprisingly the grey joycon V2 sold new is only at a few locations within 100 miles of me though.

There were pallets of Xbox Series X at Best Buy as well when I picked one of mine up from them in Decemeber as well.

Got that game pretty close to launch for like $15. It’s crazy how the first party titles hold up compared to 3rd party ones, even with that kind of tie in.

Interesting. Sadly, I can't think of too many games I want that would have much chance of being below $30 that I don't already have lol. When I browse Switch and Playstation sales I always walk away thinking meh I have them already.

I purchased Shantae and the Seven Sirens this evening because I'm heading on a flight tomorrow and wanted a new game to play. It's new to me and I enjoyed the previous one so I'm assuming I will enjoy this one too.

I was surprised to see it's still $30 on the eshop. I believe that was the price when it launched.

I purchased Shantae and the Seven Sirens this evening because I'm heading on a flight tomorrow and wanted a new game to play. It's new to me and I enjoyed the previous one so I'm assuming I will enjoy this one too.

I was loving the previous one on 3DS until it had a huge difficulty spike right at the end. Went from super casual to Guacamelee difficulty platforming almost immediately lol.
