Goodbye NX, hello Switch

I was loving the previous one on 3DS until it had a huge difficulty spike right at the end. Went from super casual to Guacamelee difficulty platforming almost immediately lol.

The only one I've played is the Half Genie one and it was like 2 years or so ago. Definitely liked it quite a bit, although thought it was a bit easy.

Think the one I played was Shantae and the Pirates Curse. Overall I really liked it, but just found the platforming at the end super frustrating because it was such a departure from how easy the rest of the game was and I guess I was in the mood for an easy game at the time lol.

I played like 6+ hours of Seven Sirens and it's really good. Definitely recommend if you are a fan of the games. It's pretty easy thus far and I don't really die like ever, even at bosses, but it's just a fun metroidvania game.

I backed it on indiegogo and got it in 2018 when they shipped. It's had a good run and was definitely worth it. But it will be nice to not have to worry about it anymore.

October 8th is when they come out. They should be pretty easy to come by. The red/blue neon one were up for preorders for hours. The white one is in more demand.

Looks like Nintendo of Japan spilled the beans on the Direct a few hours early. Shows 2022 release dates for Kirby Discovery, Splatoon 3, the new Breath of the Wild, and Bayonetta 3. Doesn't seem to give a name for the new BOTW though, just calling it 「ゼルダの伝説　ブレスオブザワイルド」続編, which just translates to "The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild" Continuation.

Very disappointed to see them not releasing an Ocarina of Time remaster though. The N64 rom running at 20 fps just does not look good on a modern TV the way the way it did on a CRT back in the day. Ocarina really deserved a remaster for Switch because the N64 version has aged so poorly. Guess I'll play it 3DS instead where at least it runs at 30 fps.

Concerning seeing Shin Megami Tensei V listed only with 'Digital Preorders Start Today' but no release date though. SMT V was the main reason I bought a Switch and I have been looking forward to this game for years.

Oh man Actraiser remaster. God I loved Actraiser on SNES.

Terranigma was the best game in that series. I would like to see that redone. Amazing plot by the time you get to the end of it.

Crap, the Actraiser remake I was so excited about apparently sucks. Doesn't look good at all in this review.

Just put like 2 hours into Metroid Dread and defeated the first boss. The game is pretty awesome. It's fast paced and it's difficult. There are some enemies (the E.M.M.I.) that are kind of not fun because they are stressful to be around, but it's challenging.

Metroid Dread is really f'ing good. The level design is on a whole different level than any other metroidvania game (for obvious reasons) and I've hardly scratched the surface. Got the first suit and got to the second boss and called it a night after dying twice.

The EMMI sections should never have been added IMO. They are a hinderance to the game. Not because they are hard but because they are stupid. It’s basically an enemy immune to everything with an impossible counter window and limited to a specific room. A room you must backtrack through multiple times. There is also no penalty for death. You just respawn at the checkpoint right at the room again. You can also pop in and out of the door to change the spawn location of the EMMI which doesn’t help add to any sense of panic they were going for. It just seems like something thrown in to waste your time. If you had a reliable way to stun them and they were a little smarter it would make it more fun. As it is, the game’s pacing is disrupted to the point I dislike playing the game now since it breaks the “explore everything” concept with a frantic running section that I either get stuck in a dead end at or end up running into the robot and mashing X to try and counter fails.

This game is up there on Mario Odyssey levels IMO. It's tied for my favorite game on Switch. The level design is just unreal. I just don't think it will have any kind of longevity like Mario Odyssey did though. Once I'm done with it I doubt I'll ever go back to it. I plan on getting every item in the game though.

I like it, I don’t like the ENMI design. It is what it is I guess
