Zelda on the Switch is looking pretty good, even in portable mode

Amazon has most of the announced games on sale for pre-order, and if you are a prime member they are discounted to $48 a piece. Since sales on Nintendo stuff is rare I went ahead and pre-ordered Mario Kart, Xenoblade 2, Grand Theft Mario and Splatoon 2 (never played the first but it was the most fun looking game at the presentation).

A PS4/Xbox is not a portable system, that is the whole point behind this. It's a portable with some awesome real physical controls (touch screen virtual joysticks suck ass), and it also comes with a great TV-dock so you can play it at home if you want. It's not a direct competitor of a non-portable console.

And FWIW it's 2 hours on battery, not 2 hour undocked. You can charge with a USB C charger, which you can have in your car, at any coffee shop ,at your friends house, at the library. Seems pretty portable to me.

The thing is that this is a home console first and portable second. Nintendo is not calling this a portable console. Of course it's comparable to current systems. This isn't a Gameboy/3DS, it's priced as a normal home console also. If it was cheaper it would be much more attractive, but it comes out to more expensive than its competition.

I see the the Switch as the Gameboy that hooks to a TV that I have wanted since I was a kid (I loved the Super Gameboy). The 3DS launched at $250, so for $50 more we get something with a dock and Nintendo's top tier first party games. I agree the battery life is disappointing, and $60 for something like 1 2 Switch or that Arms game is insane, but I think its fair to pay the $48 bucks Amazon is selling them for now for a Mario 64 2 or Xenoblade 2 or a best version of Mario Kart 8.

I don't think the Switch isn't a NES Classic style slam dunk, but I would be amazed if it didn't outsell the Wii U.

The stock was inflated from pokemon go and it's been fluctuating up and down a lot in the last few months. Curious to see what happens to the stock after all the preorders sell out. How it can be a flop when they sold every single one?

IGN is streaming and now playing Mario Kart 8. Nintendo rep said 1080p/60fps docked and 720p/60fps portable for Mario Kart 8.

Put me down as SUPER excited about the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for this reason alone:

I had signed up for emails from Amazon when it became available to preorder but I did not get any email. I just checked Amazon right now and they are up for preorder so I snagged one. I'll probably cancel by launch but worth it just to hold a spot in case for the mean time.

I saw a zelda game for sale on amazon, the description said,"Forget everything you know about The Legend of Zelda games." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the page tried to sell me a Zelda game, and I didn't know what the hell it was.

What's the hell, so those free monthly games you get with the Nintendo online are literally only playable for that month whether you are still subscribed to Nintendo's online order not, to keep playing them you have to purchase them.

I remember paying $249 for a PSP back in the day. $299 for all the tech it has is not a bad deal. The graphics are insanely good for what is basically a handheld.

I pre-ordered 1 2 Switch too. Mostly because I will never ever pay $50 for it ($40 is still too much), but I might want a game day one I can play with my wife and that might have to be 1 2 Switch. Easily my most likely pre-order to cancel.
