MK8 was the main reason I bought a wiiU. Now since they want you to buy the switch just for DLC of a port is a main reason why I won't ever buy a switch.
Don't forget they're also planning to charge you for playing it online too. Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U gives you online play for free.

Heh, I had forgotten about their online setup for the switch. I figure the Wii U has a year, two tops before they shut down the online play there like the wii.

Your loss, dude.

Indeed. That money just went to a PS4 instead, that like my other consoles I prolly wont play much.

I dunno. It could be a breakout hit. I suggest watching the direct if you haven't already:

ARMS looks weak. I think it will be fun for around an hour or two and then get really boring. Good character design though. The mummy looks overpowered.

Was going to get Swtich for my birthday next month. Might wait until Christmas. Hope this doesn't turn into a wii. High sales numbers but only a handful of amazing games.

I have a Wii U so many of the games, Mario Kart and Smash Bros I already have. Deluxe version isn't enough for me to buy them again.

Yeah that's what I feel too. Something I would try and not be able to get into long term.

From what I've seen of ARMS it looks really stupid to me. I haven't watched that video up above but I skimmed it and it looked like more of the same dumb stuff.

I did end up snagging MK8 today to play on my flights so after all that shit I talked about ports I am part of the reason now

Ugh, sometimes I just lack self-control!

I was in Best Buy picking up an order when I spotted some rather Nintendo-like boxes. They were sitting on a table behind the Store Pick-Up counter, and it was a little hard to make out exactly what they were since there was a huge Keurig Hot box in front of them. I was pretty sure it was some sort of Switch item, but was it a dock? No, wait... I'm pretty sure those are three Switch units sitting back there! I asked the guy that was getting my order, "Are.... those Switches sold yet?" "Nope, we just got them in today. Would you like one?"

Me:

"Ehh... I don't know. I already own Mario and Zelda for the Wii U." "Well, I can tell you that these likely won't last until the end of the day." "Okay, okay... I'll take one and a Pro Controller" (The accessories were conveniently hanging right there.) He then asked if I'd like any games, for which I asked if I could take a peek at what games they had in the back. I was really tempted to pick up Puyo Puyo Tetris -- especially since I could probably play two-player with my Tetris-fiend of a mother -- but I settled with the "safe pick" of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In this case, I already own Mario Kart 8, but it's actually the somewhat maligned auto-driving that I'm interested in. My little brother is mentally retarded, but he likes playing games. Unfortunately, he has poor use of the left side of his body, meaning he can't really use both hands on a controller. Frankly, he doesn't care if he crashes all the time as he'll just laugh away at it, but it would be nice if these aids could help keep him in the game with me.

Anyway! Now that I bought myself a Switch, I need me some hot, hot Switch accessories. I've kept up with a lot of the talk here about people getting screen covers, cases, etc, but I'm not sure which are ultimately the most recommended. So, fellow Switchers (is that a thing?), what sort of case, carrying case, screen cover, or other sort of accessories would you recommend? If my phone is any indication, I like basic levels of protection, but not to make the thing too ridiculously bulky.

I see that this screen protector looks rather popular... especially given that you don't see a near 5-star rating that often!

I'd say the screen protector is a solid bet considering the mind blowing reviews. As for your case, that's a little more complicated. I got the Special Edition of Zelda so I already have a case waiting for me. Though if I didn't, I'd probably go with the simple elegance of the NDS version for $20.

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Swi...97592016&sr=1-3&keywords=nintendo+switch+case

If you want to take EVERYTHING with you, you're looking at the $40 case.
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Swi...97592016&sr=1-6&keywords=nintendo+switch+case

Finally, if you want a minimalist bag that's as small as possible, this looks to be a steal for $10.
https://www.amazon.com/Butterfox-Ni...7592178&sr=1-48&keywords=nintendo+switch+case

With bags out of the way, consider a better stand for $13.
https://www.amazon.com/Compact-Play...7592178&sr=1-40&keywords=nintendo+switch+case
It all folds up so it can fit in most bags. It also has holes for the vents on the system as well as a place at the bottom you can insert a charging cord in which you can't do when using the Switch's cheap built in stand.

I'd also look into ear buds as they can fit into most bags. Steer clear of the Zelda ear buds however, the reviews are saying they break in three months. Something cheap like this would do the job instead.

I think the Hori Playstand is the best accessory after a case and screen protector. Just works so much better than built in one.

Thanks for all the advice! I ended up going with the following...

Case: Butterfox Nintendo Switch Carrying Case - I went with this one because it's about the same size as a few of the others, but it holds the cartridges directly in the case (I don't want a separate thing) and it holds up to 19 cartridges. I think a lot of the others hold around 10, which is quite a lot right now, but I'd rather not have to replace it in the future when worthwhile games are more prevalent.
Stand: HORI Compact Playstand - After someone linked this, I recalled hearing about the complaints people were making about trying to charge while using the unit outside the dock. Given that users have reported that the stand fits in the case that I got, it's a no-brainer.
Charging: AUKEY Amp Duo Wall Charger + 6-Foot Cable - One of the users with the case that I bought mentioned that it fit Google's Pixel charger perfectly, which also works great as a Switch charger. The PIxel charger was a bit expensive (~$35 on Amazon), so I ended up going with this well-rated AUKEY charger. I own a few of their chargers, and I've never had an issue. The Unit is also only slightly (a few millimeters in each dimension) larger than the Pixel charger. Of course, I had to go with a 6-foot cable rather than a puny ~3-foot cable.
Screen: amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector - As mentioned in a previous post, this one had pretty good reviews. I was a bit insistent upon buying a screen protector after reading those reports on the dock scratching the screen. In fact, I haven't even inserted my Switch into the dock yet due to that.

I think the only other accessory that I'd like to eventually get would be another Dock for my bedroom... I just wish they weren't $90.

I'm pretty sold on the Switch after seeing Mario Odyssey this week, but the Arms video above doesn't sway me at all on that game. The Yoshi game they showed at E3 looks pretty cool though.

Did you find any videos of Mario without commentary? I find pretty much all E3 reporters talking about games very annoying. Usually it ends up sounding a bit fake to me with all the gushing over whatever game they talk about.

Two ways to get that cheaper:

1. Sign up for the Toys-R-Us mailing list and buy it when their 15% off everything sale they seem to do once every two months is going on.

2. Wait for a $15 of $75 Ebay coupon and use that (most likely on the Toys-R-Us Ebay store).

I got my second dock via option 2 for $75 plus tax.

A few other accessories to consider:

Silicon Joycon covers - $8 at Wal-Mart and they make the device much more conformable to hold.

Pro Controller - I can't even describe how much better it is than the Joycon grip. You will forever consider the Joycon grip to be a Madcatz controller once you have one of these.

It's a pretty fun game, and my wife likes to play it which makes it worth the full $60 for me.

With that said its competitive nature is garbage because A. You are more competitive with a Pro Controller most likely but B. Playing that way is missing the point of the game.

I would recommend Puyo Puyo Tetris first for most people.

You, I cannot stand using the Joycons at all, and I don't even have big hands. The Joycons in the grip downright suck. Sure playing Bomberman or Puyo puyo Tetris is fine but playing Mario Kart or Zelda downright sucks without the Pro Controller.

The only way I play Zelda now is with the joycons separated and my arms stretched on the couch. It's so comfortable.
