Beat it on Friday as well, about 86% of items. I did look at how to get a few items as I didn't realize you could speed burst in a ball... Otherwise it did feel short, but don't have a huge desire to get 100% of items, but it was a good game.

Yeah part of the fun for me was figuring out how the hell to get some of the items. I got to the final boss with like 56% items or something and then went back and spent a few hours finding the rest and figuring out how to get some of them. The one that too me the longest to get was figuring out some hidden mechanics of the shinespark thing that they didn't teach you about. It was rewarding once I figured those out. I didn't use any guides or look at literally anything about this game until after I 100% it other than the first 2 reveal trailers.

Yeah, I'm definitely not paying extra to lease a few ROMs from Nintendo.

MK64 = worst Mario Kart game ever.

I will fight that till the death.

I think it always gets a lot of love due to the N64's inclusion of four controller ports. I recall not minding it at the time, but I think that was largely due to the huge leap in graphical fidelity going from the SNES to the N64.

Anyone interested in a non-banned modded launch Switch? I modded it this past weekend. I'm including a 128gb SD card as well as the jig that is needed every time you want to boot up the CWF if you completely power it off. But if it's always in standby you won't need to do it. There is a small scratch on the screen but it's outside of the actual display. I also have the box and stuff so it would be shipped with that. The joycons have also been sent to Nintendo for drift issues that they fixed.

I'm going to put it up for sale on FB marketplace like next week some time but figured I'd ask here first if anyone is interested in it.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Curious, did you setup an emunand and only go online when booted into the sysnand? Because if not and if you installed any game you don't own without being booted into an emunand that system will get banned sometime in the future, so I wouldn't advertise as unbanned. I'd only advertise unbanned either if it had never been hacked or if you have gone the emunand route.

I installed emunand and only went online when in sysnand mode. I was in airplane mode every time I was in the emunand mode too.

I also didn't install any games on it that I don't own. The only thing played on it after it was modded was a legit copy of Splatoon 2. We tested out some mods for Splatoon 2 but it was just cosmetic stuff and as mentioned, offline in airplane mode when doing so.

Anyways, it's already been claimed by someone on here so it's no longer available.

Nice, should be awesome then.

Metroid Dread is everything I wanted and more, this is coming from someone whos last Metroid was Fusion and Zero Mission, it's the perfect modern version of the 2D games.

The level design, gameplay, and overall production is fantastic. I just got the screw attack and trying to find as many items before moving on to the end. So far I've put in 12 hours.

The boss difficulty was tough for me during the first few, and even my hands started hurting during boss fights, portable doesn't seem to have the best ergonomics. Once I got into the flow of movement the others went a lot better.

I got bored with all the cutscenes to begin Metroid Dread, and then all the cutscenes every five minutes of gameplay. Completely took away all my enthusiasm for playing it. I assume it gets a lot better once you're out of tutorial intro stage, right? Reminded me of the beginning of Okami.

You must have a REALLY short attention span if those cut scenes were boring to you.

Guess I have always thought of Metroid as a pick up and play game where all I cared about was the action and gameplay, and story didn't matter. Loved the NES and Game Boy games but haven't played one since so maybe they changed?

Yes games have changed since the 8bit era.

Metroid Dread is one of the best games in like the past 10 years. You are missing out if you gave up because you didn't want to watch 5 minutes worth of cutscenes.

Of all my complaints with Dread, the cutscenes aren't one of them. Mostly the EMMI's just push you around the map and I don't feel like I get time to explore. Even if they aren't linear in design, it always feels like I'm on rails following a set path.

That is just part of the whole "metroidvania" aspect of the game design. There are parts of the game you aren't supposed to access/explore until you have progressed to a certain point in the game. That's all that is chalked up to IMO.

I disliked the EMMI's initially myself but after like the second one I "got" it and thought they added good tension/suspense to those parts of the game. The music and sound in those rooms was perfectly fitting.

EDIT:

You can even see my first post after playing Dread was sort of complaining about them.

You've been playing with joycons? Wow, that sounds hard. It was hard enough on a Pro controller, heh.

Yes the joycons.

I thought the EMMI sections were good for keeping you on your toes. They become a little more spread out and don't really restrict the overall exploration, you realize those sections are only a small part of each area.

Yep the Switch is by far my most played console since I purchased it, over the PS4, X1X, PS5, and XSX.

And my son doesn't care at all about anything other than Switch.
