It says they want to know what type of organization you are and they will review it and let you know if you can use the service?
How long did you wait?

Please post a link for the uninformed. Googling for Google apps just seems, wrong. I would rather write all of this which is taking me longer then if I had simply googled the google apps myself.

Thanks for your time

Well, I just applied (like a minute ago) filled out all the information and I was automatically accepted.... if that answers anything.

http://www.google.com/apps/

I set it up on my domain for email. It works great. To answer the questions, I was just honest and said I wanted to use Google Apps for personal use. They set it up in about 2 days.

I use gMail hosted... not an organization, just an individual. The free beta accounts only allow 10 e-mail addresses I think. It's great though, exactly the same as gMail.

I applied a long time ago and it took a couple of months to be accepted I think... but apprantly that has changed now.

Too bad it's still in Beta, I would really like to get away from the crappy apps my SMB currently uses.

Just signed up, but the agreement is interesting:

In connection with performance of its obligations hereunder, a party (the "Discloser") may disclose to the other party (the "Recipient") certain information that the Discloser considers confidential and/or proprietary ("Confidential Information") including, but not limited to, tangible, intangible, visual, electronic, present, or future information such as: (a) trade secrets; (b) financial information, including pricing; (c) technical information, including research, development, procedures, algorithms, data, designs, and know-how; (d) business information, including operations, planning, marketing interests, and products; (e) any bugs, defects, security problems, and other issues relating to Google Apps; and (f) the terms of this Agreement and the discussions, negotiations and proposals related thereto. The Recipient will only have a duty to protect Confidential Information disclosed to it by the Discloser: (1) if it is clearly and conspicuously marked as "confidential" or with a similar designation; (2) if it is identified by the Discloser as confidential and/or proprietary before, during, or promptly after presentation or communication; or (3) if it is disclosed in a manner in which the Discloser reasonably communicated, or the Recipient should reasonably have understood under the circumstances that the disclosure should be treated as confidential, whether or not the specific designation "confidential" or any similar designation is used.

I'm not so much into reading lawyery talk; does that mean they can basically share your trade secrets, financial information, and so on?

I signed up for a business account and it said this:

You can create up to 25 user accounts for this domain.

Shwing!

btw, i got the 25 user limit too after putting in i need 5 accounts for personal use.

as for namecheap... when you're managing a domain, click on "all host records" on the left, and for mail settings, select User (Mail Server's Host Name Required) and save

Hmm, can anyone decipher this? I'm really interested in using this service for communication instead of Horde which we currently use.
