Most of their other programs are crap. I'm posting this from their new browser...it's okay but nothing special. Nothing that makes me want to switch from Firefox.

Is Google the new Apple? Hip and trendy?

Because I think that their search engine has been the best for a long time.
Because I think that their customizable home page is better then anyone other (except for writing my own).
Because Google Maps destroys other map sites.
Because Google Calender is highly useful for my wife and I.
Because I've really enjoyed Gmail and the spam filter that it offers.
Because Google Reader was the best RSS reader that I found.
Because News gives me a good aggregate daily news feed.
Because Youtube is getting pretty useful and will continue to grow.

In every single thing that I mentioned Google did not have the first product that I used, but I gradually found that they had the one that I liked the best. So I really don't give a shit what you think about Chrome. I'll test it out, and know that eventually it has a very good shot at becoming my favorite browser.

Well, I don't give a shit what you think either. But this is a thread about Google and Chrome...and wow...what do you know. People are giving their opinions on it.

Eh, it's not horrible.
But it's far from decent.

This is lacking in:
- customizeability
- extensions
- bookmark layout = wtf
And god knows what else.

Not going to waste more time with this; i have a browser i love.

Chrome's got a long way to go before it'd be a competitor to FF for me.

And the number one reason i hate google; they install extra crap all the time:
Google Updater was installed & set to start with the OS. :|

I really don't like google other than their search engine, & gmail is okay.

Actually, I was replying to him where he said he didn't give a shit about what I thought. Obviously reading is not your strongest point.

Very fast rendering. Simple yet effective UI. Low resource usage.
Missing plug-ins, rss support.
So for th time being, back to Firefox.

Keep up the great work Google.

If it's far from decent, doesn't that mean it's horrible?

People tend to pull the trigger prematurely on "horrible" and "disaster" with most common everyday things involving slight displeasure.

If it were truly horrible you may experience things of horror:

Unexplained things popping out of vents on your computer. (spiders, snakes, even mice!).
Bleeding from the nose, ears, or anus.
Fingernails turning purple, crumbling and falling off.
Teeth curving inward so when you bite down on that juicy porterhouse you sever your tongue.
Track lighting halogen bulbs exploding dropping shards of quartz at 800°C down your shirt collar igniting your undershirt and burning to you collarbone.
Your washroom vent fan spins backwards so you not only get stuck smelling your own stench but the fumes of hydrofluoric acid from punctured railroad tankers a few blocks behind your house.
A felled tree drops a 34,5kV feeder across 13.8kV lines causing a flashover to your house lines. All the wiring in your house smokes and the circuit breakers weld shut and the house becomes reverse electrified. (that really happened - Text)

So you can say those would be horrible things and you're not having a good day.

I cannot think of even the seemingly bottomless pit of crapware along the lines of WinME, BOB, SoftRAM95, etc. that could be considered "horrible".

What about if your scrotum becomes ingrown and fungus grows on your arsehole? Is that typically considered horrible?

Not...not...not that it happened to me of course.

I also would only consider it if I can use my extensions or something similar.

TabMix Plus
Better Gmail 2
GreaseMonkey
etc

I like the UI and the speed, however its lacking for my usage scenarios. I use my extensions heavily, and the lack of that is really killer. Adblock and AIO mouse gestures are critical while search with, linky, firebug, and ietab are also really useful.
Another thing is that starting new tabs in separate processes can be somewhat expensive. I don't know if memory usage creeps up with chrome, but opening my current 12 tabs in Chrome results in about 300MB of usage right off the bat. FF 3 uses 132MB. I can see this being useful for casual web users who only keep <10 tabs open at a time and don't care about extensions

Downloaded, will give it a whirl. I like IE8 Beta 2 that I'm currently testing out. Since the only Firefox addons I use are adblock plus and greasemonkey (for downloading Apple Trailers and a few other random things), addons don't mean much to me (I don't mind ads and Kaspersky has the feature too).

It's a tough pick for me. I just launch browsers at random.

I don't notice any speed difference over Firefox. Memory usage seems to be a little less. I'll stick with firefox or opera

after reading that very descriptive and adjective filled paragraph, i think i might just stay away from google chrome.

I did just that. Uninstalled it right away.

Thought that Google's slogan was 'Don't be evil' - I guess they forgot.
