Lot of users will NOT be comfortable with this.

after reading that very descriptive and adjective filled paragraph, i think i might just stay away from google chrome.

I did just that. Uninstalled it right away.

Thought that Google's slogan was 'Don't be evil' - I guess they forgot.

-1 Google.

Honestly, what the hell is Google going to do? Send an email to your mother with the list of porn sites you visit on a regular basis?

I don't really care for their search engine, Gmail is a PITA, and I freaking *hate* their software, especially google desktop. It seems to want to install from everywhere, it's like spyware, just gooping up PCs and slowing them down. Bleh.

likely

gmail = best web email EVER. not even close
google calendar = magic. (esp w/ integration)
google desktop = configure it right. i dont use the sidebar. the search feature is fast as hell for me , good for searching docs and emails
google earth = brilliant

Gmail is whatever to me, when I open my ME.COM I can click and drag 10 messages to a FOLDER. Can't do anything of the sorts in Gmail. And I hate not being able to click and drag to select multiple messages. Deleting and labeling messages is a PITA in Google. I like ME.COM much better, and ME.COM needs work. Gmail gets credit for being insanely fast, but looses points when the chat part decides to log me off randomly all day, or take 10 minutes to deliver a message to another person using GMAIL.

Google Calendar... I have 2 PC's and it won't sync my Outlook Calendar. from either to my Google Calendar. The program has no options, I run it and it just doesn't work. Yeah it works for a lot of people but it also doesn't do shit for a whole bunch of us. Both of my PC's would disagree about this program being magic.

Google Desktop is a joke, if it was actually a program where I do could something with the results, like delete, move, rename I would love it. As it stands it's a search engine for my HD's, big woopie.

Picasa is god awful, slow and not intuitive at all.

Google Talk might be the worst program ever written, I don't know exactly why anyone uses it. It serves less purpose than ICQ.

Google Earth is the only program they've made that's good.

Running every tab and plugin in a seperate process seems like a good idea. Other than that I see no reason for this browser to even exist. It brings virtually nothing new to the table.

Yeah- it's insane. Very nice for a change. Firefox seems to be getting more laggy with age..maybe it's just me, though.

Posting from it now, everything works fine as far as I can tell.

Its... pretty. Seems like a browser for girls. Guess its a little faster.

As far as interfaces and usability go... I don't see anything wrong with FF or IE.. what exactly can be improved upon?

::edit::

a bug!

when maximized, my hidden taskbar does not pop up when I move the mouse to the bottom! forget this forever!

Couple of observations of users thus far...

this is beta - since when did beta become something that should be treated like a final product? I miss the days of Pheonix and Firebird and pre 1.0 FireFox where people actually understood that those early betas weren't supposed to be treated like final products even if they were vastly superior to IE6.

resource footprint - why are we still stuck in this obsession of excessive processor/memory resource penny pinching? As long as there isn't any obvious memory hole/leak or performance impact, I'll actually welcome a browser that can properly utilize my powerful system. People are always saying that computer hardware is becoming way too overkill for everyday computing...well if we start to get something out of it with a browser that puts the hardware to use then maybe that hand-me-down dualcore isn't such a silly thing for mom and pop any more...of course I think it really boils down to efficiency, we can't have a browser that openly discriminates against slower systems...however if it can put superior hardware to better use then I'm all for it as long as there's a justifiable increase in performance and/or stability.

Considering tabbed browsing was the primary feature that essentially revolutionized browsing as we now know it, I'd consider this evolution pretty significant. The concept seems so simple now that I'm surprised such a feature hasn't been seen sooner...Granted, once others follow suit you'll be right as it is pretty much just another browser in a seemingly growing sea of them (IE, FF, Opera, Safari...).

Definitely a work in progress... It's definitely faster. I hate the way they have their bookmarks laid out. I can't believe they don't have a drop down menu for urls...

I like the visited pages layout.

I dunno... pros and cons... I'll play with it a bit more.

Yikes... this thing saves every link you've ever clicked on or typed in. Open a new tab. Click "show full history"

There will be some pissed off girl friends and/or parents when they figure this one out.

Yep, agreed. I was going to give it a shot, but no adblock was the big no-no. Then I read the EULA, and there's no way I'm installing this thing on my PC. Based on that EULA, it would appear Google claims to own everything you ever open in your browser, even if it's a page or file you just created on your own PC. Sure, it's not really enforceable, but dang, that's terrible.

I haven't been able to try chrome (OS X at work), nor did I read through this whole thread to see if this was posted, but I thought some of you would appreciate this bit of information..

I was at Curse Gaming reading an article and the browser was slow as a mother fucker. I would scroll down and it just inched down like I was running it on a Pentium 133... when it was actually running on a C2Q 6600! I think it may relate to the site's use of flash advertising, but the other page on the same site had a flash ad, but did not have any slowdowns.

Why doesn't it integrate with google services? Google Bookmarks would be very nice to have available. Google talk/mail seem like they could be integrated into popups along the bottom. Its nice for a beta though.
