I'd assume so. That's what I'll have to do. I may need to take one of my short HDMI cords and use a coupler depending on how long this thing is or if it blocks any of the inputs on my receiver since they're really bunched together.

Cancel? That's what I did too, was able to cancel it from Google and ordered through Amazon.

I guess my only concern would be that since this is designed to turn on your TV and switch to the appropriate input, will it still be able to do that if plugged into your receiver.

Ahhh, I hadn't read that much about the spiffy features like that. I would suppose that would depend on your receiver.

My receiver has HDMI control so it can do that to a compatible TV, but I'm using a projector that doesn't care about that at all so I know that won't work for me.

Yeah, I was tempted to cancel my Play Store order and go with Amazon, but I figured I'd just leave everything alone. Hopefully Google is underpromising and over delivering.

Although they don't really have a great track record for product launches.

PS3 already does this even if everything is turned off, assuming you have HDMI-CEC on all of your components.

Is it connecting wirelessy to your home network to pull the content? What are the minimum network speeds to support 1080P streaming? Google was noticeably absent on the details of how this damn thing actually works.

From the sound of it, it is a WiFi streaming stick that connects through an HDMI port. I ordered one from Best Buy since it sounds like they have them. Plus, their site is the only one actually showing the Netflix sub in the order itself.

Let's add to this by saying you have to have a another gadget like computer, phone, or tablet to control it. Also it needs to be hooked up to your tv's USB port or plugged into an outlet.

After looking at the sample code, it does not look like it streams device to device, at least not yet. Your tablet sends a message to the Chromecast that contains the location of the content, for example, the YouTube video URL. Once the Chromecast gets the message it retrieves the video from the source over the Internet, not the other device.

What kind of decoding capabilities does this thing have? I can't imagine it will support anything too complex, it's way too small and underpowered to handle heavy content.

I'm not rushing to buy this. The 3 months of Netflix is compelling, but I'd rather have a higher end Android-on-a-stick, which isn't that more expensive and has more features.

If i understand correctly, this will only stream from the cloud? So local content will not stream from my computer or tablet. AKA from vlc?

Meh, would really love for this to be able to stream local content. My guess is we will need to wait and work out the same hacks we use to get the other stream boxes to connect with local content.
