FYI, watch the vid in the link I just posted. If you want to put CM on your Android device, ANY AUDIO OR VIDEO CAN NOW BE CASTED FROM YOUR PHONE FROM ANY APP. I'M YELLING BECAUSE I'M SO EXCITED.
Extremely excited for this, but it's not actually released yet.
worked fine for me without any additional tweaking or setup. do you have hdmiCEC turned on? if so check in your tv/receiver cec settings. i've heard of hdmi-cec forcing the sender device to only send in stereo if the hdmi-cec settings are set a certain way in the tv or the receiver.
quick test would be to turn cec off and see if you get surround.
Well, let me ask a basic question before I buy one. If I am understanding right, what Chromecast does is to make a TV (or anything else..?) a phone or a tablet's wireless monitor. Correct? Android phone/tablet, of course.
Can you do something else on the hosting phone/tablet while a video is playing? Or is it tied to the TV during the playback?
I just got my chromecast from a local best buy, still offers netflix deal here! So surprised, I knew everyone has been trying to find these and I just walked in and ask for the fun of it. Anyone in the socal area, I picked mines up from the best buy at west convina, and i saw they have a box filled with them as of 4pm in the pickup section.
anyways, is it possible to stream from chrome browser in android phone? for example, i use chrome in my galaxy nexus, visit site twitch.tv and them push to chromecast. Or do I need to do this from a desktop chrome?

Damn I should go buy a bunch, still selling for $60+ on ebay auctions.
I got mine from bestbuy.com order. Haven't opened it. Think I will sell it.
Not really seeing the use of it? I have pc's/laptops connected to all 3 of my tv's, with windows media center for netflix and cable tv with hd homerun triple tuner cablecard. Then a 12tb NAS for streaming local movies.
The point is you don't need to launch a dedicated app to control it, you just use your mobile device as you normally do, and you can just press the cast button and have it play on the TV. And any device on your network that has the same app can act as a remote.
Other apps are in the making. HBO and the other streaming apps have said they are working on it. Plex is also adding cast support.
Can the Jailbroken AppleTV even do 1080P?
It says that it can work on any chrome platform. Will this work on android Chrome? All I want it to be able to load my sd card with movies and stream them to the cast. Can't wait for all these apps to finally start being released.
Your advanced setup is hardly common. The Chromecast is for people who don't want or don't have HTPCs, as well as don't want or don't have NAS at home.
you really dont need a HTPC or a NAS. all you need is a computer running a DLNA server and a DLNA compatable TV or AVR and an ap on your phone. its how i get most of my stuff to the TV, only thing it wont do is youtube which i dont care about playing on my TV anyway
its why i said earlier that its a cool device but i simply have zero use for it
Thanks for the suggestion...I tried turning off CEC and it's still playing as stereo. Receiver is set to "straight", i.e. no tweaks or special decoding. However, I'm using the old Ice Age movie that I think came free when I bought the Nexus 10. Maybe it's particular to this title. What films have you tried it with?
