Google Earth is similar to NASA's free WorldWind software.
Before Google Earth used to be fee-based, but now they're releasing a free version for us all, as well as "plus" versions which cost $$.
I highly recommend this over NASA's software because Google Earth incorporates the same (if not better) 3d views, but also includes google's map directions, local search, and more.
It's pretty neat IMO.

Edit: If you are getting the error about downloads being temporarily delayed, go here, it's still available on their website.
