I don't know what sui, hon, kin, and sen are in their other forms...

Some bizarre symbols I am not sure of on the English versions of the Mapping software.

And btw, English is not my native language. I am not an ignorant. The point I am trying to make is that it is generally accepted that English is a universal type of a language, commonly used on the Internet. Lets keep it like that.

Romaji is acceptable, but other characters are not on especially on the the English site dedicated toward English speaking people. So yes, this IS a problem.

I understand why they made it Japanese, however, I think the bulk of Google Earth users are probably English.

So, yeah, I can see why it doesn't make sense. Especially if you are an American/English-speaking person looking for places in Japan.

EDIT:
Everything is in English in Google Earth, but not in Google Maps.

Check out this madness More people live in that chunk of Tokyo than in seven of my population 7,000 hometowns, I'm guessing.

Lookup Egypt. Even though the official language of Egypt is Arabic, the maps are still written in English.

The maps use vector data with tables of attributes attached-- there's no actual map except at your computer, rendered by the Google Maps website. They aren't like Columbus's maps of the new world.
