I never put phones in cases. Physical dimensions and looks are about form and function. Small bezels = bigger display in same package. Case = added bulk, no thank you.

I agree with you largely. Function trumps form but form is important. And all of my phones live in cases, I just know they're pretty on the inside.I'm with you on the bezel issue!
I'm still sorely disappointed in the industry. They keep taking things away: Expandable storage, swappable battery (your battery WILL die significantly faster than the rest of your phone), administrator rights to name a few. The only thing good that they've taken away, is some of the bulk of the handsets. Believe it or not, I do like a sleeker, prettier handset. But I do not understand prioritizing it over functionality.
Caseless is sexier. Agreed fully. I just don't want to risk damage to my device. I don't want to be yet another guy with a permanent "spider web" of cracks his screen.

I wonder if Android "fans" actually want the Nexus/Pixel line to be a success.
The 6P was the closest Google's gotten to a no-compromise phone, and it still wasn't cheap. I will say that it was still cheaper than the Note or 6S+. And EVERYONE hated it before it was announced. And then a ton of those haters still went and bought it and immediately changed their tune.
Everyone's throwing a fit over a price that hasn't been confirmed yet. No one seems to care that it is literally packing in everything with the one exception of the IPxx rating which I don't even care that much about. Maybe stop dropping your phones in the toilet? It's already rated for pulling the phone out and using it if it's raining.
If it ends up being priced similarly to the comparable iPhone/Galaxy model, literally so what? It is competing directly with those devices and has the specs to back it up. You don't see people going into the Galaxy and iPhone and dumping on the price NEARLY as much as you see it here. You don't get top-of-the-line phones for Nexus 4 prices, so make up your mind on whether you want a cheap and gimped phone that can usually pass for "good enough" or if you want Google to get in there and show other OEMs how it's done by drinking their milkshake.
Same with the bezels. Have you people actually looked at the ratios? They're pretty darn solid. That bottom bezel, empty or not, is perfect for holding the phone in landscape, one-handed, to take pictures. They make watching videos a heck of a lot more comfortable. On the Pixel, it is essentially what the N5 had. Hardly "hideous."
One can cite the changing market and phones like the ZTE Axon 7 and OP3, but why were people buying Nexuses? If it was only ever about the bottom line, I don't see the need to go crying all over the Internet. Just chase the bottom line. I mean, I'm glad you like your cheaper phones. I hope you still like them when you're forced to go the custom ROM route just to get any kind of support. I mean, OPX just got Marshmallow. Is that what never settling looks like? And good luck getting your hardware defects fixed.
And I completely get being critical of a company, and it needs to happen for them to improve, but this whole thing has just been overkill. Freaking out over Allo because of features they never said they were giving you not showing up, people all of a sudden loving Hangouts again, etc. It's absolutely stupid.
As has been my plan from the beginning, I'm going into the presentation with an open mind. If I end up not liking what I hear, I'll be glad to say so. But people forming their opinions months in advance over potatoes and rumors is just as stupid now as it was last year.

Honestly I'm just not happy they decided to make it look like an iPhone clone. But maybe it will be different at reveal. I for one think it was a bad idea to go with HTC. I mean their a9 phones looked like iPhones and they even named them after Apple's processor.

Yea I would be expecting a much sleeker design. Especially since coming from a 6p I would want a pixel xl too. But hopefully the price rumors are not so true.
