There are far too many cheap tablets and far too few quality high end tablets. And we usually only get one or two Nexus tablets a year. This year Google went with a mid range Nexus 8 and a high end Pixel C. I think those were good choices. I would love to see a new Nexus 7 also. But I far more wanted what they announced today. I'm actually still using my Nexus 7 regularly and it runs quite well.

You know how some people have said Android is the new Windows? This is one reason why.

Just like in PCs, it's a race to the bottom -- since most Android tablet makers can't compete on software and specs, price is their main advantage. If you can afford a high-end tablet, you're probably already set on buying an iPad or (less frequently) a Surface.

Google still doesn't get it, good hardware is nothing with proper and sustained support support like MS and Apple do. Android is increasingly viewed as a disposable commodity not worth buying into and that reputation and ill will garnered by the public is biting them back in the ass as seen by how every major Android vendor is doing financially worse than ever.

Saying "Android is the new Windows" is an insult to MS when they provided free end user support to gazillion hardware configurations for years, while Google routinely dumps existing Android users who isn't using Nexus under the bus with the "it's the OEMs responsibility, not us" copout card.

I mean the Nexus 6P (which stands for premium) looks to be built really well. It's priced competitively and it has 32/64/128 GB options...Project Ara + Pixel team = excellent combo...just saying Google!
