Google Search Poisoning

In the last several weeks I've noticed a drastic increase in the number of poisoned search results. For instance, do a search for 'best mts editor'. MTS is the high-def file format that many HD video camcorders use.

Your results will be a ton of obviously fake-sites, all who have payed through google+ to get their face on the google search. The web pages are all horribly written by non-english speakers, and they all pitch programs you've never heard of.

Likewise if you do a search for 'best hd recorder'.

They are all formulaic pages that give no real information at all. It's been getting worse and worse over the last couple weeks. These are the first couple times I've searched on google and totally stopped by obviously fake search results.

Just me? Or has someone figured out how to break google (for now..)?

Google is going down hill and with their paid shopping results I don't use them for much anymore. Maps and image search are still good.

This doesn't happen to me. With 'best mts editor', most of the hits I got are from forums/bulletin boards, and the rest are Wikipedia/general information type stuff.

Yeah, I don't see it either. If you put it in quotes I see it, but that would be obvious that spam sites go for that phrase.

only results i ever get on google are from answer websites. google search is trash.

Same here. If you let Google re-interpret the phrase as good editors, you get good results. If you force that exact phrase by quoting it then you get a bunch of download sites.

I find that I have to use quotes on Google anymore. Their word substitutions went from annoying to absurd. It also seems like I get partial results now...feels like I'm back in the Altavista/Yahoo/ect days. Hello operands, it's been a while.

Some things just flat-out are not synonyms. At all. And then there is the all-too-common 'which definition of this word are you using? Oh wait, I don't give a fuck' stuff.

I can never think of examples when I want to. But it would be something along the lines of searching for 'circuit' and getting results back for 'conductor' and 'racetrack.' Like, not only is one not really quite the same thing, the other is just completely off in another direction. You suck at English, Google.

Maps = Good
Gmail = poor (ruined after last new UI)
Image = poor (safe search only now)
Youtube = Fair (their trying hard to ruin it too)

I agree with the OP. Ive made the transition to duckduckgo and my searching life is much better now
