I recommend the SGP Flex screen protector. It's wet, but it has an extremely minimal orange peel. I mean you can only see it when the screen is off, and it's tilted in the correct light. That thing went on easily and protected the screen from everything. Plus, since it is a wet protector, it self-repaired itself.

199 on contract for a Galaxy Nexus is a ripoff? LOL

It's not a ripoff but this $399 no contract is a better deal. I much rather have unlocked pentaband GSM global phone over Verizon locked LTE battery draining CDMA phone.

I can't believe Google is finally doing this. So this was the real reason for the daily price drop on the GSM GNex.

Does it have a rubbery feel when you slide your finger across the screen? I hated that about the xo skin that I used.

Expansys sells the official Samsung 2000mAh extended battery with cover for $34 shipped. I recently got this and it makes a noticeable difference.

I'd agree with you, but I have my holy grail (unlimited data) tied to Verizon, so for me there needs to be a huge, comparable incentive to switch (there isn't any).

For anyone that missed out on unlimited data though, it's a no brainer.

16GB of storage that can't be expanded is by itself a deal breaker for me and I could never tolerate a non Verizon carrier in the US with how their networks currently are. The idea that I'll be getting near dial up speeds if I'm not in a highly populated area is no good to me. LTE support is a pro not a con. You don't have to use it if you don't want to(turning it off you get battery life as good or better than the GSM version simply because of the larger battery) but it's nice to be able to get obnoxiously fast cellular data speeds if you wish. I also have unlimited data on VZW right now.

I wonder how this will effect the resale value of other GSM Android phones. It's going to be hard for anyone to ask for more than $400 for any Android phone now.

That's pretty cool. For the past week I've been stoked about possibly ditching my Sprint plan and switching to Straight Talk on AT&T bands, but it turns out it wouldn't make financial sense for me to do that until this fall because that's when my wife's contract expires. Switching just one line to ST ends up being a wash on cost, even without taking the cost of a new phone into account. Switching both will save around $50 a month.

This is a good sign but I'll just have to see how prices shift around by the end of this summer. The longer I wait, the better deal I can get.

I don't see how Verizon's $199 price is a ripoff.
As dguy6789 already mentioned, the low storage of this deal is the only possible deal breaker I see IMO.

i haven't found storage to be too much of an issue. every picture I take is uploaded to picasa/g+, and all my music I stream from pandora, spotify, or google music. i have ~200 apps installed, and >10gb free.

Same with me. Im currently using 3gb. I have 10.29 gb out of original 13.33 gb free. Worse case, I can take couple key chain thumb drives with me and connect that to my phone if I needed emergency storage.

What cable are you using to do that?

Not everyone is on unlimited data plans...
Have you calculated how much you would use if you streamed while on a 2GB data limit plan?
I tried to do that and it wasn't pretty.

Pictures? Goes straight to Dropbox.
Music? 32GB SD Card. No streaming as already mentioned above.

If I had a more generous 5GB data limit or an unlimited plan, I wouldn't worry as much about storage.

You can get a Nexus for $49 on contract through Amazon. Still the best deal.

399 unlocked + straight talk would save a ton of money over a $49 on contract purchase.

It boggles me that people still think chaining yourself to a contract and paying hundreds more a year is a good deal nowadays.

Not over the course of 2 years. Unless you absolutely need Verizon coverage. There's no way to go prepaid and get quality verizon data coverage for much cheaper.

Why are people here even comparing the Verizon Galaxy Nexus with Straight Talk service?

Verizon has far better coverage, I would agree going with AT&T over Straight Talk is pretty damn stupid. But if you want coverage out here Verizon's it. You could get an off contract phone and put it on PagePlus, but they give you almost no data, and data's expensive. I personally would spend more money to get Verizon service 10/10 times over Straight Talk.
