Breaking? Don't know about Asus but SONY has said many times before that their focus has been on Europe and Japan. It is only this year that they will focus on China and the United States.

Probably more accurate to say they previously failed in the US, spent the last year focusing on their strongest markets, and are trying again.

Makes some sense given the Nest acquisition. Google is still interested in doing their own hardware, but they just don't want the bloat and billion dollar annual cost of keeping Motorola around accomplish that.

I'd like to see what Tony Fadell could do for the design of the modular phone that Google had discussed previously. I think he could probably do a lot for Glass as well if they put him in charge of their hardware.

I don't believe there will be significant enough changes to the company quickly enough to impact the lifespan of the moto X or g.
My first thought was "damn, now I'm screwed" but then I had this thought shortly afterwards when I realized how long a transition would take. IF Lenovo wanted to jack with the Moto X and G it'd take them a long time to be able to do so.

Lenovo has it's own phone designs, so they only need the Motorola brand and distribution.

^ That looks awesome.

Lenovo K900, its a bit average TBH. Is got a decent 5 1/2" 1080p IPS screen and fairly good camera though.

The orange one looks nice.

Needs a bigger battery and a decent SOC. Oh and a LOT more available storage.

It does show that they could do really well with Motos experience added in. It all depends on how well Motos "merged" with Lenovo.

I expect this is going to be a replay of the IBM acquisition. They'll use Moto's distribution network to get Lenovo branded phones out, and keep Motorola as the premium line (think Thinkpads).

Just like the Thinkpads, I expect quality won't be as good (eventually), but it won't go down enough to say its bad. TBH, Motorola's quality was already going downhill a little, at least if the OG Droid --> Droid 4 was representative of what is going on there (I haven't had the chance to play with a Moto X or G yet).
