I was going to order a new cpu for one of my systems........this was going to be my first time ordering from googlegear........so I decided to check out its rating at resellerratings.com............First I noticed that they have a low rating of 6.68............I then read threw some of the post and stumbled on to this:

In the past, I have purchased a number of computer components from this company (motherboards, cpu, etc) and was very happy with the price, selection and promptness in shipping out the orders.

In February, however, I placed an order for a P4 processor and it arrived with damaged pins. I filled out the online RMA request and sent the processor back. Several weeks later, a package arrives from them which I thought was a replacement processor. Instead, it was the damaged processor with a note stating that they did not accept physically damaged goods for refund/exchange. The note further stated that the damaged pins on the processor was obviously the result of improper insertion/extraction from the ZIF socket. Very interesting since I never had a chance to insert the processor in the ZIF socket because of the damage to the pins I discovered upon opening the package.

I called their customer service to explain the situation, and he assured me that 100% of the items they shipped out were in perfect condition. Therefore, if something is damaged it must be my fault. I asked to speak to his manager, at which point he managed to conveniently disconnect me.

At this point, I asked my credit card company to pursue the matter. They wrote a letter of complaint to Googlegear, but they basically ignored that also.

Today, I am holding in my hand a brand new P4 (with straight pins!) , but thanks only to the classy customer care at Intel.

Bottom line: I will never do business with Googlegear again. Unless you are absolutely certain that the item you order will arrive in pristine condition with no problems, do NOT do business with this bunch. Their customer service is hellbent on ripping you off!

____________

I guess ill be ordering from somewhere else........is TCW good? They have a 8.64 rating.

Ive ordered from googlegear, newegg, and tcwo...never had a problem with them. Although I did order a 24x10x40 Lit-On from newegg and received a 32x10x40 instead, so I guess you could say they messed up my order

Ive used googlegear.com multiple times and they are pretty much the company I exclusively deal with these days. They are fast, cheap, and wonderful to deal with. (Better than a good prostitute.) The only people who usually post to those damn ratings pages are people who have had a bad deal, or those with their shaft up a companies ass. For example, the Newegg fanatics you get spammed by if you dare mention where to buy something. Not a flame... but sometimes they are really slow on shipping, and two day has always been cheap and FAST from Googlegear in my dealings with the company.

Plus... 50 cent shipping on top selling items is always nice.... When was the last time Newegg had shipping that low on TWO DAY?

Dont let one poor sap's bad deal scare you... Newegg has their bad days too.

I use Googlegear when Newegg doesn't have something in stock... which seems to be quite often on things I want.

The one time I ordered from googlegear my stuff was broken. I sent it back and got all my money back, but I think I will just stick with newegg for now.

rofl.

I know I've never had a problem with newegg so I thought I'd mention it. I just ordered a new case, round cables, and a few fan grills. They were shipped in THREE different boxes. I ordered them on a Monday morning and they were on my front step by 2:00 on Wednesday. This was with Standard Fed-Ex saver shipping. Not bad? I'll take it.

I've had no trouble at all with GoogleGear, but I haven't ordered from them more than a couple times.

I have ordered from them a few times. The last was long ago for a P3 700. They called me after it had shipped out saying they may have shipped out a faster processer by mistake and to call them when I got it. Well a few days later it came and it was a 700, and a few days after that they called again to ask what I got. I told the lady and I could tell she didn't believe me. The whole experience sort of rubbed me the wrong way and I haven't ordered since. Most of my business has been going to newegg and iitem.com lately.

Good point. Newegg's FedEx 2 Day isn't that low, it's lower on most CPUs and RAM. It's free.

I'd take the vendor ratings with a grain of salt.

From time to time customers will have a bad experience. Usually they will be the more "vocal" about the deal.
I've ordered products from Just Deals multiple times and not really had any problems. They are just one example of the kinds of vendors that are out there.

BTW, Every time I place an order over say $20 with Just Deals, I hold my breath until it arrives. I don't order complex items from them like CPU's, MB's, Memory, HD's... you get the picture. I order items from them that are priced far below competitors.

Yes, I've read stuff on resellerratings and bizrate on Googlegear.com. However, since I did order my 1.6a from them, I was kind of panicking when I heard the 'horror' stories from their customers. Well, lets put it this way. I went to every other company I ordered from and they all had the same things. Some were worse some were better. Even newegg.com gets its flamers. So as of now, I'm not worried. But if they do gip me or something I would be pretty distressed because I did order about 150 bucks worth from them. And in ghetto change, that's a lot of cash.

Hmm, if I knew this, maybe I should have ordered everything from newegg, lol.

Well i decided to split my order up between to two. I ordered a case, ps, and cpu from newegg, while the cheaper ram, mobo and cables came from Googlegear.

I never ordered from Googlegear before, but I have ordered from Newegg several times with no problems. In fact, they always ship the fastest.
