I have no idea what it will look like but I'm pretty sure it won't be what we really need. It will be a political solution foremost, done with little actual understanding of the complexities of health care proper.

I like my HSA HDHP, because my employer actually puts some money in there, and the deductible is not too high. After tax savings it's the best deal, if you are in a high bracket.
Also, it does encourage cutting health care spending, for better or worse, because effectively you are spending your 401k money. This is why we are finally seeing drug price becoming a big political issue, because people are paying for them out of pocket, at least up to their deductible.

To be fair, 'Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated'

So, you're on board for changes to the legislation that will be made out of necessity by the current Congress?

Yeah - I'm not going to say the ACA is perfect. Nobody would say that. "Necessity" is subjective though, so we'll see what they change and how they change it.
By the way, "change" is WAY different than "repeal and replace"
So, you are you on board with the changes necessary? If I recall, the battlecry was "repeal and replace (day 1 too, wasn't it?)

Provided they do what Trump stated:
Lower cost
Lower deductibles
More people insured
Keep the popular like no exemptions, no spending caps, longer coverage for kids

I really look forward to it!

Yeap - that's going to be awesome. Can't wait to sign up.

What a joke. Clowns everyone of them. Circular firing squads are fun.

Whatever GOP unity was produced by Donald Trump's victory in November has all but disappeared, and Republican leaders are confronting open rebellion in their ranks as they try to finalize health care legislation. Trump's speech to a joint session of Congress this week was well-received, but did little to repair divisions.

I have some doubts they'll get anything passed. The Tea Party caucus is still in the House. Are they going to support anything other than a total repeal? Dems aren't going to help Republicans on this one, since any plan Republicans put forth will almost certainly kick some people off of insurance and/or Medicaid.

The idea that was floated for a while to base tax credits for health insurance on age rather than income was pretty hilarious. GOP wants to keep their old voters alive, but poor people can go fuck themselves. It was actually suggested that basing it on income would discourage work. Because we all know that everyone wants to avoid getting a better job just so that they can get a larger tax credit for some shitty barebones health insurance plan.

if they're smart they pass a law with one line saying "obamacare is hereby repealed" and then immediately pass another law of about 2,700 pages with a palatable name like "American Care Act"

IDK what, if anything, they'll come up with, but I'm pessimistic. I don't think any govt anywhere has the answers. Europe's HC costs are as out-of-control as ours. And we're subsidizing their drugs.

I think the Repubs are going to have an almost impossibly difficult time getting something passed. I'm not following what they're doing very closely, but I could imagine a "mandate" being a huge obstacle.

It's Republicans. The only thing we can be sure of is that the ACA replacement plan will disappear the surtax on incomes over $200k. America's most affluent citizens obviously need tax cuts more than struggling families need healthcare. Beyond that, it'll just be one flavor or another of the usual FYGM.

They should pass a law that says, we are repealing ACA, effective when we replace it with something better.
Then they can tell their supporters they repealed it, without the repeal ever going into effect and having to take responsibility.

If we give the wealthier people in this country more money, it will trickle down.

Obviously. I mean there's a lot of history to support that.
