Right now I'm the one being screwed in the system. You're damn right I'm looking out for #1.

As I've pointed out, your issue wrt lack of choice has been induced by Repubs refusal to fund risk corridors.

Also as I've pointed out what happens if everybody acts the way you want to act?

The answer is that there won't be enough healthy people in broad coverage pools to hold the price down to anything like affordable. So we all pitch in so that we'll be able to buy in at all phases of life. That's how employer sponsored plans work except that employers cover more of the cost than the ACA. We could change that, too, if we could get more indirectly from employers in the form of taxes.

Well what do ya know...Looks like the American Spectator was dead on. Look at what it says on page 1:

Section 1302(b) of the Affordable Care Act directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (the Secretary) to define essential health benefits (EHB).

https://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Resources/Files/Downloads/essential_health_benefits_bulletin.pdf

Those entire 15 pages describe over and over again the powers of the HHS Sec to determine these required pieces of any health care policy. This is something Dr Price can do on his own without any further legislative action by Congress.

I should have the right to buy a catastrophic health ins policy. Obamacare took that freedom away from me

Just heard a rumor on the news. CBO is projecting 15 million will lose coverage. No time frame was given so I'll assume that's over a 10 year period.

Which means that you "should be" able to up coverage when you need it, invoking the scenario I laid out.

Your thinking is extremely short sighted. You want everybody else to give you a path where you enjoy all the upside & none of the downside.

Cornholio, obviously. I think Repub politicians & the ir big money backers live for it.

The plan calls for a 3 year phase-in iirc so I figure that's the time frame.

You're quite easily confused; the language exists, it just doesn't say what you think it does. And is entirely moot given it must survive judicial review.

Try harder.

I want everyone to have the option of enjoying the upside. I think you're getting it.

Try harder at what? The law says what it says. Deal with it

I honestly dont care one way or the other.

After the ACA was implemented my insurance quintupled in price and almost nobody would accept it any more. In the rare times I could use it I still had a copay either double or triple the old rate. And the yearly deductibles were much higher too.
Neither Republicans or Democrats are brave enough to break up that monopoly the AMA has, and until you fix the supply problem, the price of almost all heathcare is going to be ridiculously high. And it amazes how many people equate insurance with health care.
Insurance is not health care. You need doctors and nurses and hospitals and clinics for health care. Insurance is the speed bump on your way to health care. Or some cases the pothole. Or even the cliff with a slanted road and no barrier and no emergency services.
Like when Dr. Strange took his Lamborghini off the side of the mountain. And (ironically) could not find anyone to fix him after the accident.

This is the biggest piece of health care reform from Republicans since Nixon gave us the HMOs. It's pretty pathetic that this is what comes out of over 4 decades of conservative thought on health care.

I think the legislation says "the Secretary of Health and Human Services (the Secretary) will define essential health benefits." What do you think it says?

Well if it makes any difference, I've found your posts to be the most informative and substantive in this thread. Not going to speculate on where you work, but you seem to know your stuff when it comes to this.

Guys like Sactoking are the biggest threat to those that would prefer to have us believe the FUD, the propaganda, the out and out lies that get spread around to confuse and fool the uninformed.

We need him and more guys like him to keep our discourse as factual and as forthright as possible.

I've complimented him before and I was hoping he could give us the straight scoop irt the repeal and replace ACA effort now being conducted by the GOP.

I can see where Trump's supporters would absolutely love to see him go and I have seen how GOP supporters have attempted to harass and annoy him into silence.

Stick around Sacto, we need you here more than ever.

Assuming this garbage scow passes, which is a big if at this point:

I'm interested to see how Trump supporters in dirt poor places react once they realize Obamacare benefits were more generous than what they are getting with Trumpcare and Ryancare.

Republicans say the delays with some of the rollouts (i.e. changing Medicaid to block grants to the states) are to give people time to adjust, but I wonder if it's actually strategic thinking that assumes Democrats will take the House in 2018 or 2020. Then the Dems can take the blame for people realizing they suddenly have less money in their bank account at the end of the month/year.
