Aaaaaaand it's dead again. Two more senators just announced they can't support it.

8 fucking years they've had to come up with something. 8 years and they can't do a damn thing now that they have total control.

The GOP can't govern. The calls for a flat repeal will grow and God help you guys if they do it as they won't be able to replace it with anything.
Not shocking considering replace only became part of the pitch after realizing how unpopular repeal only was.

I read the two that jumped think Gov should not be involved to the extent this bill requires.
Get ready for a bipartisan approach

Its basically two reps from the opposite side of the spectrum. Two think it messes with Medicaid too much and the others think it doesn't go far enough.

Which is just bullshit.

Lots of them didn't want to pass this piece of shit and lose their jobs so they trotted out two members from super safe seats to object based on ideological purity, and thus give cover for the others.

Complete disaster for McConnell and Trump and all idiots in the house that took a vote on this dead end.

They are also going to have problems from all the sabotage of the ACA they've been doing. They will blame others, but in the end they are in power and have completely failed to get anything fixed.

Advantage to the Dems in having an opening to further slow down the Trump agenda by now forcing Rs to work on HC through regular order, sucking up energy and attention for months.

If Rs refuse, then they will carry blame as petulant babies who won't try to work on what needs to be fixed. Can't really walk away from it when you've been claiming it's a burning platform that needs immediate remedy.

Only dummy liberals think that winning at politics means governing. It's like the straight hard worker at the office wondering why politicking degenerates get ahead instead.

Well this was obvious.

UPDATE: WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, facing defeat on his "Obamacare" replacement, says he will push the Senate to pass a clean repeal bill.

The Republican leader made the announcement in a statement that came a few hours after two Republican senators dealt a fatal blow to the replacement bill unveiled last Thursday. Sens. Jerry Moran and Mike Lee joined two other senators in opposing the legislation, meaning McConnell lacked the votes to move ahead.

No way this passes either. What a joke.

Even if they pass it, they have no workable replacement, so they will just keep delaying the effective date of the repeal like that never ending "doc fix" under Medicare. These jokers are hilarious.

What's really funny is Moran actually just had a town hall and got an earful. Everything he whined about the bill doing badly was NOT what his constituents were complaining about. He likely isn't at risk but the GOP is still very tone deaf about why people hate this bill outside their own radicals.

We'll I guess I won't get my:
Lower cost healthcare cost
Lower deductibles
Better coverage
Less wait times
Lower prescription costs
With everyone covered in a beautiful, smart and did I say beautiful system.....

Thanks Obama for derailing this

The rich degenerates know it's against the interests of the poorer ones. That's why they're offering the muslim ban & whatnot in exchange.

I wouldn't count on the repeal being dead just yet, the house version also looked dead for a while, but then it came back and passed the 2nd time around.

However, this does leave the Republicans in a lot of trouble. They've had 6 months to work on this already, and they have no healthcare bill, no budget, no tax reform and no increase in the debt ceiling, so the next couple of months could get really ugly for them. And it only gets harder next year, as they approach the midterms and the possibility of a Democratic house.

It's standard sales tactics. Present the shittiest plan, so less shitty plans don't seem so bad. They'll get something that sticks as they keep rolling back I'm guessing, but it's gonna sick for the plebes

The GOP: failing to lead and failing the USA since c. 1971.

You own this, republicans.
I think most reasonable people acknowledge that the ACA has its own share of flaws and vulnerabilities, but in intent created more good than harm. The repeal and replace approach was never a viable option, and the Trumpcare was dead on arrival. The Pandora's Box is open, at this point we might as well just embrace single payer.

It is also worth noting that were it not for GOP governors that broke ranks in lending their voice to the opposition, and Republican Senators breaking ranks from their party, the ACA would now be dead.

Health care will most likely be THE singular issue that defines the midterm elections. Will be interesting to see who finds the voice to lead on health care.

I just want you to acknowledge those few brave GOP governors and senators that broke ranks to kill this joined literally every single democrat

It's not entirely dead but it's bleeding out fast on the floor. Hard to see a path forward for them at this point.

Too many Senators, and more importantly state Govs, hate it. Ryan/McConnell may have to use *gasp* a bipartisan fix passed through regular order.

Now on to the easier lifts of tax reform, the debt ceiling and the budget. LOL.

You can't trust anything until Rs lose at least one branch of govt.

They are like alligators lurking just beneath the surface. Turn you gaze for a moment and they will pull you under.

I believe my post did acknowledge them? As the opposition party and in the current hyper partisan environment, I would not expect one Democrat to cross party lines in favor of any Trump led initiative. I was pleasantly surprised to see GOP leaders break ranks.

While it's important to note that only one party is rotten enough to propose something like the Senate's health care bill I agree with you that it's also important to note when people break away from their party on a signature issue like this.

'Mavericks' like John McCain and Graham who constantly criticize Trump were perfectly willing to vote for a bill that takes health insurance away from tens of millions of people. They are only independent when it doesn't matter. These people here were independent on a major party issue and some of them will probably face primary challenges for it.

Donny is on twitter this morning blaming the democrats (and a few republicans) for the failure of the bill. Also embracing his "let Obamacare collapse then the Dems will come begging" rhetoric. He really has no idea how any of this works.
