Sadly... lets be honest about this.
We ALL know exactly what this is all about.
It's never once been about the failures of Obamacare because THAT, THEY COULD FIX.
ACA creation was solid ground to built upon.
A good start that did what it was intended to do, greatly reduce the number of uninsured.
Add protections to those already ill.
And address some of that the financial waste in the insurance industry.
Obamacare WAS solid ground to build upon.

When I heard VP Pence up there today rattling off all the weak points of ACA one need only ask, THEN FIX IT !!!!!
If your 3 year old car developed knocks and pings, you don't scrap the thing, YOU FIX IT.
MIKE.... YOU FIX IT !!!!!! (moron)

But we ALL know that is not their intention and never will be.
We ALL know exactly what is going on here....

They "COULD" fix this.....

11 governors including Hickenlooper, Walker, and Sandoval just issued a statement telling the Senate to drop their straight repeal effort immediately. Nails going into the coffin lid.

Yeah, I don't understand this argument at all. For it to fail funding needs to be cut which can be done but why would cutting funding exempt the person who cut the funding from blame?

Even if they don't de-fund it, they're going to be blamed. Because whoever is in power gets the blame, but also because they specifically promised to fix healthcare. Trump is out of his mind.

I am loving that this thing went tits up with no warning while Trump was dining with Senators who really weren't on fence and totally failed to woo the ones that were. Some good strategery there.

Trump is so transparent and superficial as a negotiator (at least these days) I'm truly astonished he's gone in far in life as he has. His sole goal is to score a "Win"-push through some legislation that he currently backs so he can bask in the glory of his "achievement." His philosophical foundation seems to be based on the last person to talk to him and has changed day to day on major issues many times now. This constantly fluctuating agenda hurts him big time in the partisan halls of Washington.

Contrast that to LBJ, who twisted a lot of arms to get them to vote for something he truly believed in-the Civil Rights Acts, Medicare, and the like. Or Obama with the ACA and the bailout to save our economy. Both LBJ and Obama cost a lot of elected officials to risk and ultimately throw away their elected career for something they believed in-can you even imagine Trump persuading one person to do that?

If I was a senator he was wooing, the only reason I'd pay attention to him would be because what he could do to me. No way I'd stick out my neck even a tiny bit to give him what he wants..

Trump would have a hard time getting a good deal on a used Chevy, even at the end of the month when the salespeople are trying to meet their quotas.

I have to admit: as horrible as the proposed bills and their potential consequences have been, there's a little schadenfreude in watching the Republicans flounder. The leadership is gradually realizing that no, they can't just pass whatever insurance lobbyists and wealthy pals want -- they're still beholden to the public. I mean, they're trying to change that by crippling vote oversight mechanisms and rigging elections, but for now they can't just vote to kill poor people and get away with it.

Fun fact: McConnel's last-ditch repeal-only effort was killed by 3 GOP women. Sorry bro, that's what happens when women join the party...I guess now we know why the healthcare working group was 13 men?

So, what, over 60 votes to repeal except the one time it would actually pass. But no, they weren't doing it for theater at all.

Thanks. Yeah I'll probably be sued photoshopping a classic image.
Sued by Trump...
And I kind a like the phrase "KEEP AND FIX" vs REPEAL AND REPLACE.
I just followed that rule for my 3 year old washing machine.
It's what we do when something needs a little repair.
Especially when the "replacement" they offer consists of a bucket of water, a scrub brush, and a bar of soap.

Not to revel in things too much, but people have noted that Trump was playing in trucks both times "Trumpcare" failed:

The US really did elect an 8-year-old in a 70-year-old's body. He doesn't actually care about the policy, despite claims to the contrary -- he just likes the show of being President. Well, that and playing fireman.

4 year old. My 4 year did that in the bouncy rides you drop a quarter in at the grocery store. He also would shit his pants after you told him he needed to go to the bathroom and then blame you for not telling him he needed to go soon enough.

For some reason, I had that thought in the back of my head that he ducked out on a photo op the last time. Not very creative is he.

And Trump just now:

Someone should really inform him that he and the GOP will be blamed. Congresscritters appear smart enough to understand this.

35% of people believe that Jesus rode Dinosaurs, and that Jesus brought Trump into their lives ot save this country. They will absolutely believe whatever Trump tells them to believe; especially after he already told them that he is going to make it fail, and then blame the democrats.

People are fucking dumb.

Repeal-only (an even stupider idea) has officially now gone down in flames.

This is true but after a few years of not MAGAing will those same people loose interest like it's a bad reality TV show and change the channel?
