It has been long suspected that Price would be fired/made to resign if the healthcare push failed. Given that the Senate does not exactly appear poised to pick this up again if Trump's threats or actually trying to kill the CSR payments don't do the trick he's probably gone.

Trump to make decision on payments this week....

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/30/politics/kellyanne-conway-tom-price-obamacare/index.html

If he were to withhold payments, any chance that enough of CONgress would group together and change the law (with veto proof count) so that Trump can't make that decision any more? I know...I know...dreaming.

In short, yes. Such a move would totally scuttle any (small) remaining hope of the GOP passing a healthcare bill and force their hand to prop up the ACA in at least a limited fashion with non-conterverisal moves like mandating CSR payments.

I disagree. Congress will blame it on Trump and claim they are too busy (with tax cuts for the wealthy, etc) to spend any more time on this issue. I just don't see the GOPs in Congress going to bat against Trump on this issue. Remember also both the House and Senate are GOP controlled, so unless both Ryan and McConnell allow the issue to come up, it won't. Ryan's life goal is to gut taxes on the wealthy, he's not going to let this stand in the way any more. Plus that's what their donor class is demanding.

As I posted earlier, a group of 40 congress reps (not senate) have been meeting for over a month on how to shore up the ACA. Collins was on this morning talking about bipartisan efforts in the senate along with McCain and a few others. I know that many times, that's just politician-speak. I guess I'm hoping for too much.

The Republicans should just move on, but their idiot base won't let them. They just can't accept that Obamacare is here to stay.

What is wrong with this man? Doesn't he understand he is president? Why is he threatening people on twitter?

This one's easy:
Because the other kids on the playground didn't beat his ass, repeatedly, when it was very much needed. Nor in the military reform school that he was sent to. ....I'm guessing they were afraid of daddy or just thought they could suck up to him and leach off him when all the money became his?

Dunno for sure, but maybe it's time to track down all of those adults that grew up around him and start questioning them about why they didn't punch the shit out of this asshole until he learned how to behave like a goddamn functioning human during his formative years?

Immaterial it's called the justice system not the revenge system. This is also America not some shit hole, we expect the police to be better than the criminals at least most of us do.

PC Geek prefers "leaders" like Duterte or Putin. Perhaps he would prefer to live in such shitholes?

Lawsuits would obviously ensue perhaps with injunctive relief via the federal courts.

I haven't read enough but some sites have said that this is a 'tool' of the president. Not sure why he alone would have this power. Also note that while CONgress has to buy their insurance through the exchanges, the president does not.

It's all speculation at this point. There are a lot of ways for Trump save face in funding the ACA. Blame Congress. Claim that he has to go along with it no matter how shitty it is because it's all a lot of people have. Say anything & be believed by the base, because he could shoot somebody.

The cost of health insurance is a rounding error in Trump's finances.

The point that Trump seems to have (or at least thinks he does) control over the supplemental payments to both regular ACA customers as well as CONgress but nobody has any say in his. Of course, if true, that was by design in the CONgress that designed. IIRC, the supplemental payments to CONgress was put in a few years later after ACA was implemented....or I seem to recall that from somewhere.

Insurance: Yes.
But insurance is not actual healthcare. We have a much larger problem with health services as a whole which cannot be solved with the Democrats or Republicans plans and certainly not Trumps rounding errors. He has no concept of the issues at hand because he is so ridiculously rich he just cant grasp it.

Yeah, like him spouting off multiple times about 21 year old people starting out after school with $12 per year insurance.
