I've pointed that out several times. Even when you just look at the ACA market insurance companies are making a hefty profit off of it. They are leaving the markets for political reasons more than direct financial ones. The danger of the ACA market has always been that the politicians are arguing too much about the markets, not that there was not enough profit in it.

Very important to remember that when it comes to the ACA that the part referred to as in 'crisis' is the individual private sector, which comprises about 9% of the market. You can easily have a 'crisis' in the individual market while having a very profitable business in the rest of it.

I'm not so sure that this won't pass. McConnell has already ask the CBO to score it so it wouldn't surprise me if it comes to a vote quickly. Rand Paul came out against it but in the end, he will vote for it like he has every other time. Now whether the three GOP Senators that voted against the skinny repeal last time vote against this is anyone's guess. I'm sure that it won't take effect until after the next election cycle or maybe the 2020 elections....enough time for people to forget about who voted for this steaming pile.

The GOP and T-Rump are desperate to get a so-called win with their base. They're not smart enough to realize that this isn't it.

I don't feel good about this vote. The others had a ton of public outcry and resistance. This one, nothing at all. We've been hit by a couple hurricanes, there's a ton of other political noise going on. And everyone is sort of sleeping on this having been sent to bed. This one is much more sneaky and sinister. I'm not sure there's going to be enough no's to go around on the Republican side here.

Yep. And the other truly shitty part about all of this is that the GOP can basically hang this on Trump. "Well, he demanded we get this passed. So we did. Blame him for this mess". They come away largely unscathed. They keep their rich interests happy. Throw the President under the bus for the LOLs and spite. And still come back to a loyalty base too stupid for their own good that will continue to support them.

I think the overall public is distracted and suffering from protest exhaustion. McConnell senses that and will slip this in under the radar.

McCain is waffling now a bit again. Apparently the solution to giving this thing a fig leaf of "regular order" is to hold a sham hearing on it in the Homeland Security committee.

For the rest of time until the sun burns out the GOP doesn't get to talk shit again about how the Democrats passed bills. This entire "process" is the most craven and shameless thing I've ever seen attempted.
