Well we knew there was a reason that the GOP was absolutely terrified of the CBO score. 14M more uninsured by 2018 and 24M by 2026 seems like a good reason to be worried. But hey....you've got "access" to that healthcare and "choices".

As if we needed further confirmation, Repubs show how fundamentally unserious they are about healthcare; a bill score where 14M are immediately dropped from the insurance roles is just totally morally and politically unmoored from reality.

I am surprised it doesn't increase the deficit, the Medicaid cuts are apparently quite severe more so than their previous iteration of this bill in 2015, though I'd like to see the non-dynamic version of this too.

Holy crap. The GOP are in over their heads now. As Kramer says this may be the best thing long term as single payer becomes more likely now.

ETA: 14 million of these folks likely to lose coverage next year.

Standby for the midterms folks.

If this is what is takes for people to learn, fine I guess.

Ryan just came out and said that these 14 million people uninsured next year are "stuck on Obamacare" and would "prefer to have a choice other than government mandated care." So I guess their preference is...nothing??? Post-truth isn't just for the Executive Branch...

Choosing to die would be the cheapest. I'm sure there will be a lot of takers cause that's all we care about right.

You know what, I've changed my mind. I like this plan. They should definitely pass it.

Ryan and the Republicans love to describe things poor people can't afford on the free market as 'choice'

My understanding is I will get a tax cut, based on repeal of the investment income surtax over $250K, and ability to shield more income through higher HSA contribution.
I feel bad for the millions of my fellow citizens who will lose health care. I vote for Democrats and am OK paying more so more folks have health coverage, but I will respect the will of the American people through their elected Republican representatives if they insist on me keeping the money instead. We can offer our help, but we can't force people to accept it if they don't want it.

I think the 0.9% Medicare surtax above 200K individual/250K household also goes away.

These particular changes also financially beneficial to me and my family but totally fucking boneheaded for the country at large. Millions of additional uninsured people is a bad thing and something I also have voted to avoid. Give the people what they want I guess.

I am just tired of arguing with people who want to screw themselves to give me more money. Fine, you win.

Gotta love it. From the article-

One House GOP aide put it this way: "They're saying people are losing coverage but in reality, these people are making a choice," the aide said. "We're not ripping coverage away."

A choice between heat, light, groceries & rent or... health insurance.

That's not right, either.

I am still going to vote my conscience, not my wallet. But the people who need the health care help should be the ones driving this at the grassroots level. A lot of them voted Republican or didn't bother to vote. They have spoken loud and clear that they don't want and/or care about having government subsidized health insurance, and that us affluent coastal liberal elites who think otherwise should have a tax cut and mind our own business. We have to respect the message we were sent.
