Common sense.
When liberals try to argue against some degenerate's gut feel.
Common sense.
Possibly.
I'll ask you the same question.
If they just leave the ACA in place how many more will suffer? Millions? Tens of millions? Or will it be millions less than it is today?
Or will you admit that you just do not know?
And millions are going to suffer regardless of which bill is passed or even if we leave the ACA in place.
Yes.
And you call me pedant.
No possibly, most likely.
That's an easy answer, zero. The ACA is the baseline we are measuring against because it's already the law. The question we are trying to answer is the effects of changing that law to something else.
The changes offered by the republicans so far are extremely likely to inflict suffering on millions of additional people as compared to the baseline. This is what the evidence shows and we should all be able to at least agree on a shared set of facts.
Nice dodge.
I would seriously like to know what part of the ACA do you think made it non-viable in the long term? For the most part the ACA is just a few rules about insurance along with a subsidized exchange to help people get insurance. Is there specific rules or a unbalance you think point at a unstable system? As far as I can tell the only reason the ACA is failing is because of an intentional campaign of sabotage by Republicans done almost exclusively for political gain. They all are terrible, even the ACA which was never viable long term IMO.
I think all of those idiots in DC needs to be horse whipped for refusing to work with one another. I am talking about BOTH Parties.
At a minimum they should work towards making the ACA work, but I fear that the Democrats will not allow any meaningful changes.
I disagree. I think that the Democrats are willing to make meaningful changes to the ACA, if those changes has a chance at improving it, but the Republicans can't even decide what changes they want. What the Democrats are not willing to do is give large tax breaks to the wealthiest at the cost of the health of the poorest, which seems to be the only change the Republicans can agree on.
olls have shown the House bill to be among the most unpopular of any major piece of legislation in the last two decades. Those numbers have not improved in the past few weeks with the introduction of the Senate's version of the legislation.
It's the only answer many of them have, sadly. From that article...
Overall, 44% said that the US healthcare system would be worse off under the GOP legislation, while 28% said it would improve.
I'd like to know what exactly will improve to those 28%. "Because Obama care sucks!" is not an acceptable answer.

Dems should obstruct everything, so that whatever Republicans can get through Senate reconciliation with just their own votes is mortally wounded and doomed to fail. Then use that failure to pass universal single payer.
None of us KNOW what is going to happen over the next ten years. It is all estimation and guess work.
I posted this in the other thread.
GOP plan gets brutal poll results (from title)...

Read that and let it sink in for a few minutes.
lol, why should the GOP care? The won seats despite a minority of votes cast for their exceedingly unpopular policies, so of course they can convince themselves that they have a "mandate" form the public to do the things that the public actually voted against them to prevent them from doing!
strange reality we live in.
Except over the previous 7 years we all "KNEW" that the ACA would be a complete disaster and the country would be burning in flames in some sort of socialistic hellhole of canibals and zombies and the living envying the dead, etc etc.
But of course, now we can't know these things, so far in advance, when the derp brigade is in charge, so clearly hellbent on fucking the whole cow.

Aaaaaaand it's dead again. Two more senators just announced they can't support it.
8 fucking years they've had to come up with something. 8 years and they can't do a damn thing now that they have total control.
The GOP can't govern. The calls for a flat repeal will grow and God help you guys if they do it as they won't be able to replace it with anything.
God forbid they work with democrats to fix what's in place at this point. They would be viewed favourably if they did. Right now they own everything including Obamacare since they refuse to fix it and can't replace it.That's exactly what will happen, although there have been at least 2 GOP senators that said they would be against a repeal without same time replace because they said that the replace part will never happen in that case (and they're right).
On the plus side they wanted to do tax reform through reconciliation to cut out the democrats too. That is likely not to happen I'm betting.
