It's not just people here who have used that strategy. Look at China.It's a brilliant strategy that conservatives have used for decades to keep their voters loyal: "eliminate evil regulations!" that promise to keep their jobs (they never do), all the while, those eliminated regulations allow heavy metals and industrial waste to pollute those voters' water supplies, keeping them poisoned, stupid (malformed, arrested brain development) for generations, to keep them as loyal, unquestioning simpletons that respond only to simple, monosyllabic talking points.

That's kind of different though. China intentionally rejected environmental standards to quickly overcome decades of Marxist economic and technological damage. Now that they are at or near the top, they are slowly instating environmental regulations. Basically China is experiencing a century of American progress in a quarter century, including the economical damage we inflicted on ourselves in pursuit of that progress. Once they rule the world, I'm sure they will get even more environmentally friendly, because environmentalism is a movement one has to be able to afford to embrace. Here we're talking about a nation at or near the top going backward. That might make sense if we were mining unobtanium and such environmental damage was required to win the war (assuming it was a war of survival anyway), but here we're talking about serious, lasting environmental damage to make it cheaper to mine freakin' coal.It's not just people here who have used that strategy.
