Maybe I'm slow.... "Rube?"

Im exhausted... preparing financial statements sucks the life outta me, BUT...

These debates did nothing for anyone here. I just like arguing. I may be a politician someday (would be a lawyer, but too much reading).

I think Bush has better ideas and plans. That is why he has my vote. No strings... no frills. I just don't think that Gore will provide what I want. Call me selfish, but I want to hold onto more of my money. I want the money that IS sucked into S.S. to earn more return. I want health care that isn't restricted. I want the security of a strong military (even assuming it is strong, I want it stronger). I want better education (although I do not think this should be a federal issue.. seeing as schools are run on the state/local levels) for my children, if/when they rear their ugly heads. I just thought that Bush's plans do more of that for me than Gore's plans. That coupled with the fact that Bush could better get it done than Gore if Congress stays Republican.

PS: Thsi is the fastest I have seen a thread grow....

Bush with a Republican congress just might be able to lower taxes and reduce the size of government. Gore with a Republican congresss will have a more difficult time raising taxes and starting new government programs.

I still want to know how the lady that picks up cans to pay for medicine is able to drive a Winabago to the debate. And how many people think that if Gore gets elected and gas goes to $4 or $5 a gallon will she still be able to drive it.

If I may be so bold, I think the future of the country is going to be based on a two pronged assault on the electorate.

If Bush wins and the Congress remains in the control of the republicans, there is a greater liklyhood that conservitive issues will be addressed. Some of those issues I favor, especially downsizing government expenditures starting with the IRS.

If Gore wins and either the house or the senate swings into democratic control, many social liberal issues will get the attention and is a strong liklihood of being impimented. some of those I like like, pro choice supreme court justices, and not opening my backyard for coal exploration.Clean coal is still dirty folks. And the best clean coal is here in Utah. Some want to tear up some pristene and beautiful countryside unlike anyplace on earth and I am apposed to that.

If Gore is elected and congress remains the same,we have the status quo,and thier are a good many who do not see change as real benifit.

I think congressional elections are really important now in the voting process.

ROCK ON. GET OUT AND VOTE!

Triple is quite a lucid man.

RedDawn - YOU ROCK! I'm on your side.

Let's just overthrow the country eh? - that's what guns are for...
Take it back to what the framers of the constitution envisioned.

OMG! I've become a libertarian!

You know what Ornery, I'm tired of you complaining because you have to pay taxes. Do you still have lots of money afterwards? OK THEN. Some people cannot afford to pay their fucking rent. They have to fight for money, and it's not a worry to you.

Listen, dont get me wrong. You probably worked harder than the others in your class. That's excellent, and you have more money to show for it. The more money you have, the more taxes you pay. Its that fucking simple.

NFS4 says it best, WTF? Bill Gates needs EVEN MORE money?

The biggest concern I have on a GOre presidency is who is appointed next to the supreme court. On most issues that are contreversial we get a 5-4 split, with the more conservative majority winning. Whoever appoints the next justice may change the balance. This is one of the primary reasons I think Bush is a better choice.

As far as legislation goes, I think the country would do better if they all took a couple of years off. I remember when there were budget battles and there was no funding for the government. Some of the most peaceful political times in history, and it affected hardly a soul. Add to that the fact that the Federal Governments could barely spend a dime with the exception of entitlements.

RED DAWN,

Now you see that the most important part of this election in November is going to be which way the congress goes, not which dupe we end up with in the whitehouse.

By all means, this is going to be a vote for the lesser of two evils at the executive level and because of 1 issue,I will probably vote Gore. I believe the government does not have the right to tell a woman,My wife,my sister,my duaghter, what they can or cannot do in regards to there reproductive choices. I am also apposed to abortion except in cases of rape, insest,or some other diabolical problem. But as a caveat to that,I also do not believe that life begins at conception. I believe life begins when the baby takes its first breath of air. I don't want a flame war on this from the relegious right ,so don't bother.

A great deal is riding on congressional votes. IMHO

Well congress makes up just as much "power" in our fine goverment as does the Pres. Actually Local goverment has as much influence on our daily lives as the federal gov'mnt.

On the issue on military readiness, I think Bush is wrong.

Our military is indisputablely the best and the most prepared in the world. I mean hell, if we want to conquer the Canucks, all we have to do is to send up a bunch of high school kids. They have more than enough firepower to take over Canada. Throw a couple of timothy McVeigh's (and I know we have tons of tem available), and you'll have Canada blown into pieces.

I thought I was the only one that caught that. Not to mention that if I couldnt afford medicine, i sure wouldnt have dog that needs to be fed and vaccinated either.

Nope I'm represented by the honorable Christopher Cox. The demographics of Dornan's district changed; it was only a matter of time until someone more "intune" with the residents replaced him. Since Cox has gotten more than 70% of the vote in the last couple elections I don't think that he needs to worry.

gore thinks his credibility got attacked... that can't be true, his credibility = null. (something about selling a tort reform veto for $100,000, and then there was, "i was eating and words were coming out of my mouth and i don't know what it was i was saying cuz i was drinking tea and had to use the toilet.&quot

"Yes, I am. You can thank big businesses for the computer you're sitting at right now, and the internet over which we are communicating. More importantly, you can thank big businesses for our great economy."

Actually Engine, big business has had buggerall to do with the development of the internet except for jumping on the bandwagon - the harwdware originates with the govts ARPONET for the defence dept & the big universities. While the software side of things (the www bit) was developed for the science beaurocracy working at the Cern physics labs in Switzerland, by an English bloke.

Now as far as the economy is concerned, any economist will tell you that its actually been the small business sector that has been behind this unparrallel period of growth over the last decade (& its hard getting economists to agree on anything, but they all agree on this), big business on average have had profit growths that barelly match the annual growth rate nationwide (remember 95% of 'dot coms' have yet to make a profit & most never will, so don't go quoting dot coms as they are really just a 'flash in the pan'). You'd think otherwise, by the way big business are paying their CEO's, but then why do you think shareholder groups have been getting so peaved of late (things like AMP insurance paying their CEO multimillion dollar bonuses even though they had amongst their worse couple of years ever).

Its strange how the internet CNN poll reflected Bush winning but on TV, they claimed their poll conducted yesterday had most voting for Al Gore as the winner of yesterday's debate.
