Different strokes for different folks. This thread pops up every now and then. BB10 is a great OS and it is really fast and easy.... once you learn how to use it.
Alas, that's probably what killed it. You would go to the cell phone store and there would be your selection of iPhones, BB and Android. Customer picks up the iPhone and plays with it. Customer picks up the Galaxy and plays with it. In two minutes, they have a pretty good feel for either phone. Then they grab the Z10 and the untrained salesperson doesn't know anymore about it than they do. They fight with it for a couple of minutes and give up and pick one of the previous two. In reality, it takes a week or so to really get comfortable with BB10 and that's just too long for the average consumer.
It works in reverse, too, though. I have been sporting a BB Z10 since they came out and have tried to defect to Android on a couple of occasions only to come running back to BB 10. If only Android had something like the Hub it would make the transition easier. For everything that's easier about Android there is something that's more difficult or slower. The lack of bedside mode for one. Another example, this morning my wife asked me to pair her bluetooth speaker to her LG G3. With a Z10 it's a simple swipe from the top and tap the Bluetooth icon. Not so simple with Android. After I had fiddled with it and only figured out how to turn bluetooth on and off she gave up and grabbed it from me and showed me that you had to get into the settings menu and go from there.
Unfortunately, lack of app support will have me switching in the next month or two. I was putting along running Android apps on the Z10 with the Android runtime. They load a little slower that way and it can be a little glitchy but it worked. Now, with recent updates, most of my banking apps won't log in or even load. It's getting more numerous by the week, too. News apps aren't far behind. It's sad, but by this time next month I will probably be using an LG G4 or Nexus 6.
