I don't know if your camera has it, but try either spot metering or flash to expose the engine.

my camera definitely has it, but I wasn't going for perfect pictures. I might later on.

"Perfect picture" or not, what's the point of the engine shot if it's fvcking pitch black?

Ha.

A. If its actually pitch black, you have a monitor issue.
B. I'll start a thread called "critique my snapshots" and I'll care.

Its a good mix for me. Its no rocket, but it'd outrun 80% of what's on the road right now. (straightline only, of course ) It makes a 5000lb. behemoth not seem quite so cumbersome.

There's something about driving an old model that bothers me...

I don't have the financial means to buy a 45-50K vehicle new, unfortunately. I also haven't gotten accustomed to the new body style yet, a little too rounded, maybe? And driving an "old" model doesn't bother me, when I can have a good looking ride for almost 1/4 the price.

nice ride though.

I'll clarify: 17-18 MPG when NOT taking advantage of the supercharger.
I doubt it. Even stock it has problems getting those numbers on the fwy. My friend's averages ~12mpg city.

Are those numbers that you've gotten IRL or figures that you've seen written somewhere?

The 5.3L Vortec is actually a variant of the LSx series engine. It has smaller bore and stroke dimensions. It's also made out of a combination of iron and aluminum instead of all aluminum. I don't like the vehicle, supercharged or not. It's not designed to go fast. It has the aerodynamics of a cinder block and the weight of a small building. It's an all American fatty transporter.

I ran about 20 gallons thru it mixed driving, and got 15.5mpg. Prev. owner claimed 17-18 hwy, so I'm assuming he's not too far off.

Gentle or spirited driving? That's not bad if it's your regular driving style.

Cmon guys. I wouldn't try and cross any major streams or puddles of water. Everybody knows only subarus are good for that.

And the fatty jab certainly doesn't apply here.

I have one question though. Where did the 400hp/475tq rating come from? It most definitely sounds like it's from the crank. Are these just estimates from the previous owner or was an actual dyno performed with drive line loss added to the total?

Meh what's the point of supercharging an SUV? Unless you need the extra power to tow something, it's a waste of money IMO. Unless it's a cayenne or something with suspension and design to back it up, the first time you hit a turn under boost, you'll be rolling sideways.

That would be from the crankshaft and estimated from dyno tests done by whipple.

I didn't pay for it. So its pretty much free HP for me. I'm not spending $5000 on supercharging ANYTHING.

nice vehicle Pablo. don't worry about all the tree-humpin, tofu eatin, non-passenger-carryin, commie-hippie bastards here, they're just jealous and intimidated that their Prius/Metro/wuss-mobile feels so insignificant next to your "I AM MAN, FEAR ME" truck.
