One question, do you get Howard Stern with the basic XM radio package? I have Sirius in my car but it isn't an option on Toyotas for some reason and I think you have to pay extra for Howard Stern which makes no F'ing sense.

Congrats on the car. I dig it!

Man, I hadn't realized that hybrids were getting this cheap. I guess too many of the other manufacturers are focusing on hybridizing their midsize sedans which is keeping the price up.

They start at $18,950.
I don't think that one comes with cruise, though. The "real" one starts close to $20k since I don't see people buying the base with what it lacks. It's like it's 99% of the way there but then you really need to get the next notch up, even if you're somewhat minimalist. I imagine Toyota expects to see very few of the bare bones ones, though.

Howard is on Premier Sirius - its an extra $3.50 a month for Premier:

Howard, NFL, Martha & Playboy & Spice are included in the Premier.

I'm enjoying my 6-month trial and may subscribe based upon the deals they offer me at the end of trial.

The "B" is engine breaking. When you choose it the engine shifts down and lets the RPMs wind down to recharge the battery. Basically the "B" is a KERS button. I use it to slowly slow myself down when I would normally (in any other car) let myself idle to a stop or any other instance.

Thanks, makes sense. Apparently on descending steep grades the regenerative braking can get overworked, so you use B.

for 26k, you could've bought a regular prius, with some change to spare.

kinda defeats the purpose of a cheaper prius and saving gas money.

but whatever, nice car.

True, but I don't like fullsize cars, prefer subcompacts.

I would think it's around 27/27.5k after TTL?

Yupper. $27,6.

If you adjust the temperature with the steering wheel buttons, does it turn the dash knob to match?

Humm, haven't even adjusted the temp yet, been in the 60s. I would doubt it does. The only thing I've ever seen do that was a Technics tuner from the early 90s. Hit volume up on the remote, and the volume knob on the tuner moved.

wow for 25k the interor really isnt that high grade...toyota seems to be slipping really badly. hell the interor is cheap and plasticy on my 07 chevy cobalt base model but when you could buy that car for 12k OTD its to be expected. this is plastic sprinked with tech bits. its kind of a let down to the outside which is nice with the exception of the the chrome tails.

Well remember it starts under $19k.

WTF, I thought they were supposed to be $19k. WTF happened?

And a bit misleading, as it doesn't include a $760 destination charge. Realistically, the Two, with floor mats, etc. is going to run $21k. Really the cheapest, complete one you can get.

Would love to see some long-term MPG updates for this car, especially for freeway driving. I like it on paper but I'm afraid the mileage won't hold up at 80 MPH. Still, it's on my list for daily drivers.

I have high hopes for the upcoming plug-in hybrid Accord.

Posted a couple of threads on car ideas. Was on borrowed time on my Aurora (02 with 221k miles). Transmission was starting to go. And my 94 Miata as a daily driver wasn't going to cut it.

I'm hedging on $6/gal gas prices in the future during the life of this vehicle. I was really wanting the Two, as I don't care for leather/navigation. The local dealer only was getting a Four in, and I only drive white cars, and no other dealers had anything in white. So I spent about $4k more than I wanted to. Had to pay sticker. I did get the GM to buy me a Diet Coke at least.

Nice car. Sorry for threadcrapping but...

You really need to get over this. I used to hate automatics too but what happened to me is what happens to everybody, we stop defining a car by whether it's auto or manual. Manuals are dying and you need to come to terms with it. Moreover, the transmission of the Prius is such that giving it a manual would be really a terrible idea, not to mention very possibly impossible.
I disagree. It doesn't define a car but it defines a driving experience. For example, we have two WRX wagons. One is a 5-speed and one is an automatic (got a great deal on it used). Guess which one is better to drive?

Same reason I bought a CR-Z. Had to have the 6-speed. Makes the car remarkably fun to drive considering what it is.

At least on the low end, its hard to see any car billing itself as being "fun to drive" or "sporty" having an automatic. It just doesn't work, for me anyway.

That's the point of having all these different cars on the market. There's something for everyone.

It's like me hating quarks or the personality traits of kangaroos.

those kangaroos do have some odd personality traits.

a buddy of mine traded his maxima in for a C four. i wasnt impressed when i saw it in person, but i think most of the hybrids are pretty fugly. functional, yes. but fugly as well.

Not really, when the battery is full regenerative braking is shut off and you are back to regular or engine braking. Based on the capacity a Prius battery should be able to fully recharge in about 20 - 30 minutes from empty.
