As hardline as I am against actual sex offenders, I agree. Public urination has nothing to do with sex or being a sex crime.

IIRC, it's true. You are technically exposing yourself. You can get charged with indecent exposure, which lands you on the list.

Find a lawyer, you do not want a misdemeanor for pissing in public. That will stay on your record. You will have to disclose it when you apply for things. You need this knocked down to a noise ticket or something less than misdemeanor.

I don't piss on people's things or ignore dumpsters when I have things to throw away. I can't say I was shocked to see any of it, but that doesn't make it any less douchey for people to act that way.

If your record is clean get a good lawyer that has a working relationship with the DA and he can get is dismissed. If you already have a bit of a record and it doesn't really matter, just pay the $100 and call it a day. Having a record, no matter how minute is a royal PITA.

I got arrested for this back in '84 when I had to go really bad after driving all the way to Hollywood Blvd from Orange County. I ran into an alley and when I was done, walked back to meet up with my friends when a couple cops cuffed me and walked me to the station.

I was 17 at the time, so I'm not sure why they didn't just write me a ticket. Amazingly, the cops didn't frisk me because I had a couple beers in my jacket. They allowed me to talk to my friends who were hanging out in a record shop, and i was able to dump the beers. Whew...I look back now that situation could have turned into a big mess, but they held me and called my dad who came to pick me up, no tickets or anything.

I thought it was kinda cool being escorted down Hollywood Blvd in handcuffs, and the cops were really cool. When we made it to the station, a police car was pulling out and one of the cops escorting me grabbed a trash can and dumped it on his hood... Then after my dad got me, they were joking around with us. hehehe. it was a different time back then, i guess.

according to the statute, it's a misdo. I would plead guilty only if they knock it down to an infraction. You wouldn't want some stupid misdo following you on your background check for the rest of your life...
