Got a scammer responding to my ad to sell my Honda motorcycle

Thanks for the mail , am comfortable with the picture i saw, i will be making the payment via cashier check,or money order and also i have made an arrangement with my shipping company for the pick up .i will like you to get back to me with your full names and address for me to mail out the payment over to you...
NOTE......The payment i will be sending will be of excess this you will give to the shipping company for the pick up when they contact you .all you need to do is to get the money verified and faithfully deduct your own money and send the balance to the shipping company through money gram .The shipping company will contact you as soon as you receive the payment .pls let me know if this sounds good to you .i will be waiting to read from you .And the payment will get to you in a couple of days.

I replied with a phone number and asked him to call me. The number I gave him was the number to my local Police department.

I wonder if he called. :laugh:

Scammer sends fake check/money order, but by the time the bank realizes it and deducts the money from his bank account he's already sent the scammer the excess money and the item he's selling.

The check/money order is "bad". You cash it and send part of the money to the "shipper" who pockets it. They never come for the vehicle. A few days later the bank calls and wants their money back because you gave them a bad check/moneyorder.

Western Union wire transfer is as good as cash. Depositing a Western Union Money Order or a USPS MO for that matter at a bank is an easy way to get scammed. Cash it at the respective company and you'll be able to know immediately if it's fake.

The scammer will also almost never send a WU MO and instead send a normal check of some sort. Either that, or a bank MO.
