Got BF2 a couple of days ago...dont know what exactly is the problem

How exactly do you play online for BF2?...this is my first time playing a BF series game...when the "creating a account" message comes up it freezes there...and I have to restart my computer.

Have you patched? Do you have anything running in the background(even anti-virus programs will cause games to not work properly). Something on your machine is not liking BF2.

Yeah updated it to 1.12...BUT I do have Norton AntiVirus...ZA Firewall and Microsoft Spyware remover on.

ZA isn't that bad in my book, but once it asks you for access once you shouldn't have a problem getting BF2 through anymore. I don't.

ZA used to be known for causing crashes with certain programs. I'm not sure if that's the case anymore.

My friend has this same problem. He had to install gamespy and launch net games from there.

At times the gamespy servers (that handle the accounts) can be very slow. The game will behave as is if it is locked up when waiting for the these servers to respond (you can't escape or alt-tab out). You might want to just let the game sit for 15 mins or so at that screen (connecting to account server), just to make sure that the problem isn't on gamespy's end, before tearing your hair out about what might be the problem with your setup.

I think that I've heard of problems getting some of these firewalls to recognize the patched exe file. In other words, they know to allow bf2.exe to connect to the internet, but after you patch this file, they seem to act like this is a different file now (even though the name is the same).
