It is a cooler master Hyper 212 and it was pretty sharp so I cut myself and dripped blood onto it.

Should I clean it up? Does the blood hinder heat transfer in any way?

You should. That way, it wouldn't arouse suspicion as a murder weapon in case you're investigated for homicide will not have any cosmetic blemishes nor attract any ants or insects into the case.

In fact, it could have been an easy job if cleaned immediately under running tap water. If its hardened and dry, dip only the fins into a bucket of water for 10-30 minutes, then scrub or rinse.

These games sure are getting too realistic.

It will probably act as an insulator so it may slightly hinder heat from dissipating but it's probably not enough to be noticable. I would scratch off as much of it as you can but not worry too much about it.

You are going to have to douse it in holy water...once it tastes blood, all hell can break loose.

Better leave it - it sanctifies the computer, keeps it from being hijacked by the legions of the damned.

I had one that was - it over clocked itself to 6.66 Ghz and grew bone spikes. The parallel port bleeds, and if you plug in speakers, all you hear is screaming. I unplugged it but it wouldn't turn off, so I use it to heat the garage.

Does blood hinder heat transfer on a computer heatsink? A question that has puzzled nobody except you since the dawn of time

No probably not, but clean it up anyway because its messy

I got blood on one of my heatsinks and the computer is alive and kicking six years later. It's not going to have any appreciable effect on the cooling.

If it bothers you enough to clean it, go ahead, but it's not necessary.

Yeah, i thought it was the windows vista upgrade I performed, but this seems like the more likely culprit.

The funny thing was that my computer didn't even have a parallel port until this happened.

<debating if i should clean this thread or just lock it...>

In seriousness id say it depends on where the blood spot was, and how much blood was on the PC.

I believe human blood is also conductive, which can cause problems.

Amazing thread. Too bad your PC isn't cold with solution.

Blood probably won't hurt the heatsink, and it definitely won't screw up heat transfer unless it's a really thick, chunky glob of it dried on there (then it could mess up airflow and some other bad stuff).
