And how many pills are in your current life affirming cocktail good sir? How long have you been on them? How many times have you swapped out one because you saw a new one pop on your tv and it would solve all your problems with only a "slight" chance of stroke or death?

I take no pills.

You claim I'm ignorant of the process and that it's very complex but offer nothing to back your claims. If I couldn't walk into the docs office tomorrow and tell him about some new drug I saw on TV and have them prescribe it, big pharma wouldn't bother advertising this junk to the general populace. It's capitalism at its finest.

You can't just walk into a doctor's office and ask for a drug prescription, like you're claiming. That's how I know you're a dumbass.

It starts somewhere around $400 million to present trial information to the FDA for review. Ask me how I know.

A good doctor will try and set your expectations, tell you there's risks and talk you out of gulping down the latest cure to market. Do I think that's the majority of them out there? Maybe 20 years ago. Not anymore. I bet if I walked into a psychiatrist' s office tomorrow, told them I'm stressed at work and feeling overwhelmed I'd walk out with a prescription for something. News flash "Work is stressful and at times can be overwhelming!" Soon we'll all be well medicated obedient zombies though.

This is a pointless paragraph full of nothing but your mindless drivel. I bet you wouldn't get shit from a doctor saying "I'm stressed at work and feeling overwhelmed." You have no idea what you're talking about.

Tell that to the poor psychotic kid with titties. I'll see your clinical drug trials and raise you the list of side effects associated with this drug.

http://www.rxlist.com/risperdal-side-effects-drug-center.htm

Read all that. Then get to the bottom 2 days later where it talks about "Post marketing experience". Meaning things people suffered from that they didn't figure out before selling it and prescribing it.

No thank you. I'd rather be psychotic.

Maybe I already am? Ha ha ho ho hee hee

It sounds like you DO need some meds.

Yeah, I love these fucking medicine commercials. Side effects may include: Nausea, vomiting, headaches, heartburn, hair loss, diarrhea, dry mouth, water retention, painful rectal itch, hallucination, dementia, psychosis, coma, death, halitosis, lung cancer, mental retardation, brain tumors, paralyzation, sleep loss, internal bleeding, internal combustion, a sudden craving to sniff your carpet, an addiction to cocaine, heroin, PCP, speed and Windex, bone weakening, claustrophobia, acne, playing Call Of Duty Black Ops, regular PMS, making Jesus cry, the inability to use proper English in an online environment, homosexuality, AIDS, an urge to stab your spouse, inability to breathe oxygen, urge to watch the Chinese version of Friends, migraines, diabetes, deafness, and of course, the inability to speak properly.

And then you have the crooked cock sucking attorneys say, "did you take Assinlargemedapham? If so give us a call and we will get you some ma tha fucking money!

"Please call us if you have experienced this"

I hate lawyers.
They're annoying, but they need a job, and they play the game within the system, so blame the system.

Also, they do serve SOME benefit. Plenty of companies probably do things right instead of half assing it and having to deal with endless litigation.

Stop taking this crap! Side effect is you grow breasts and you're a man? What the frig is the FDA doing these days? Cripes!

Sensationalist fearmongering thread.

ALL medications have side effects. 100% of them. Every. Last. One.

If you're having side effects with a medication you usually have the option of switching to something else that works better for your body chemistry, but in general, people don't stop suddenly taking life-saving drugs just because of the side effects.

If you're developing that side effect, the obvious choice is to stop taking the medication immediately and the symptoms will go away, right?

No, because his parents probably appreciate him being able to sit through class without smacking another kid with a ruler and throwing a temper tantrum.

I find this med intriguing. I could use a bigger bosom and people in P and N call me psychotic all the time so this could be pure gravy for me.

That used to be the case, but our understanding of all three of the disorders you mentioned has VASTLY improved since the 90's when it was seemingly diagnosed by default.

Diagnosis is quite a bit more accurate these days. You might think it's out of control, but the reality of it is that you're simply seeing it in the news more often.

Not everyone has this "responsibility" bullshit problem that you think everyone has. Drugs work for most people. That's why they're still prescribed. That's the profound fact that most people who share your opinion seem to forget.

Where is your proof of any of this?

It always amuses me when I see these commercials for pharmaceuticals and the side effects of the drug are worse than the condition they're supposed to cure.

Antipsychotics have NASTY side effects if you stop them cold turkey. Seriously worse side effects than if you were to continue taking it but taper off like a doctor or pharmacist would know to have you do.

Well yes, but the list of side effects isn't a guaranteed effect you'll have and you won't get all of them just one or two and the odds of you getting them are remarkably low 99% of the time.

I don't think drugs should be advertised at all, anywhere.

Did he say that? Or are you just setting yourself up for getting owned in another thread?

He's a belligerent retard most of the time, so it's better just to ignore most of what he says. That's what I do. :awe:

He's an ok guy, just gets worked up a bit quick.

I've been on some form of meds most of my life. Between my allergies and bad joints, I pop lots of pills each day. Sucks but its part of my life.

Insinuations, how do they fucking work?

I like to throw shit back in people's faces when they say something stupid or make an irrational judgment call or blanket statement.

Do you have anything intelligent to add to this conversation or are you just going to piss all over this thread and drag me down to your level to troll each other?

My judgement is irrational and yet I've supported it with evidence and facts. While your position opposing me thus far has had no supporting evidence provided and nothing but your own made up facts.

Further to the point that psychiatric drug use across all age groups is increasing at an alarming rate. Read and educate yourself: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052970203503204577040431792673066\

Shit let me make it easy for you:

Psychiatric medications are among the most widely prescribed and biggest-selling class of drugs in the U.S. In 2010, Americans spent $16.1 billion on antipsychotics to treat depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, $11.6 billion on antidepressants and $7.2 billion on treatment for ADHD, according to IMS Health, which tracks prescription-drug sales.

The Wall Street Journal telling you that psychiatric drug use is the biggest business in pharmaceuticals today. Now go ahead, put your fingers in your ears and yell how everyone is stupid and that there is a legitimate rise in mental illness to blame. No my misguided little friend, 1 in 5 people are not mentally ill. Capitalism has failed us and we're too stupid not know that the answer to life's problems can't be found in a pill bottle.

Its so obvious and yet no one sees the forest for the trees. Its not about treating mental illness anymore. Its about $$$$.

Meds treat the symptoms.

They almost never solve the underlying cause or problem.

Did Risperdol make your kid have titties... Call us now...

And we will remind you that the medication kept him from going off the fucking deep end and murdering his classmates because the toaster told him he was the reincarnation of King Nebuchadnezzar.

SSRI's (anti-depressants) have some legit argument surrounding their efficacy. Not a home run conspiracy theory but there might be some over advertising and overstatement..

Anti-psychotic like Risperidone are legit drugs that keep Schizophrenics functioning and not murdering their loved ones or drooling in a psych bed for their miserable existence.
And the Gynecomastia in men is a well known side-effect of all anti-psychotics. It increase estrogen in the body as a side effect. It is actually utilized to try to keep violent pedophiles "chemically castrated" as medical therapy to control their urges.

Part of the reason Schizo stop taking their drugs is they completely lose their erections and sexual drive and the second they get out of institutions and back in the mix they want their dingdong back in commission.

It is a miserable disease. Schizophrenia has a nasty streak of taking people in their absolute prime and completely buttfucking their lives... you can watch the countless Hollywood dramatizations on the subject. I legit had a patient that was some sort of big time top of his class engineer at MIT who ended up murdering a few of his friends and wound up drooling in a state hospital.
