Hmmm, anyone else think stopping, petting the dog, and continuing the run may be better than beating the ****** out of it? Sure, if it attacks you, wail away, but a dog chasing you is not necessarily a dog attacking you.

After almost being killed by a pitbull when a child, I am always ready to attempt to kill a dog that attacks me or is poised to do so.

I would have simply accelerated until the dog couldn't keep up with me. I've done that to a greyhound, a cheetah, a peregrine falcon, and an F-15.
But still nothing! Why put up with that shlt? Call the dog warden and tell him you want the damn thing locked up, and the owner fined.Originally posted by: SWScorch
Weird. I was chased by a dog while running on Sunday. A huge Doberman, not chained up or on a leash, saw me running past "his" house and cam charging at me across the yard and across the road. I'm not afraid of dogs, but this puppy must have weighed at least as much as I do, and was charging full bore at me. I slowed to a walk (don't want to pique his predatory instinct) and shouted at him to go home, which he hesitatingly did. I saw him again today and slowed to a walk before he noticed me so he wouldn't chase me again. Usually if you stop running and don't act afraid they'll realize you mean no harm, but still...

I have always said that if a pit bull (or one of those types that likes to chomp down) bites me and hangs on, I am going to turn around and bite the dog back. I will clench my teeth and have a mouthful of fur and whatever else comes off! :Q
